What lighting styles suit evening tent events in LA, California?

I’m trying to plan an evening event under a tent in LA, and I’m unsure which lighting styles work best. Last summer, I attended a party where the lighting made the whole tent feel magical, but I can’t remember exactly what they used. Has anyone experimented with different setups for evening tent events and can share what really made the space feel special?

    I’ve done a few evening tent events, and from my experience, layering is key. I usually combine soft fairy lights around the perimeter with some uplighting on the tent poles—it creates a warm, inviting glow without being overpowering. Colored LED spots can also highlight areas like the bar or dance floor. One time, I set up a tent and accidentally matched the wrong size lighting to the space, which made it feel cramped. Learning about stretch tent sizes really helped me plan better for both lighting and flow in future events. It’s amazing how much the tent shape and size change your options.
