Doctors Orders.....

Well last week at track I had a Hypoglycemic episode I was so pale and lethargic..My heart was pounding with the littlest amount of activity.I just about passed out so I went to go and see my doctor. Per her instruction I can eat as much raw as I would like but she wants me to have fish or shrimp and steamed veggies for dinner. Reason being is because I’m training for a marathon and I have only a month left and she feels I need the protein. So for the time being I will be raw all day and add the fish and steamed veggies for dinner. She also mentioned spinrula or something like that I have been using a veggie vitamin powder in my smoothies that I got from live-live.com it has a bunch of stuff in it including the spinrula and I dont think I am spelling this right..Well I’m feeling alot better more energy and I love fish and shrimp so I’m ok with that..is anyone else eating a cooked dinner?

  • I am not eating cooked food now, but for the first couple of years, I ate meat (salmon, beef, or chicken, usually) and then everything else raw. It was a good way for me to transition. Everyone is different, and the important thing is to pay attention to how you feel. Spirulina is good for protein, and other raw sources of complete protein include bananas and goji berries. Young Thai coconut water is awesome for electrolytes & carbs for athletes. Natural “better than Gatorade” drink :)

  • Thank’s for the info I dont feel so bad now maybe I sent my body in to shock trying to go 100% so soon and right before a marathon:)) Is there a way to just buy the coconut water???

  • No, it goes bad pretty quick after opening, so if you find the water for sale alone, it’s not raw and often has sugar & stuff added to it, but some of the runners on this site take fresh young coconut water with them when running (just put it in their water bottles or something) and you can use the meat from those coconuts for other stuff – it keeps in the fridge for a couple of days.

  • misty – I’m new to raw (I think it’s day 53 today) and I am finding that I am not ready for 100% raw. I have found a good balance for me. I am eating raw for breakfast, lunch and snacks, and am eating a healthy cooked meal at dinner (fish, chicken, veggies, etc.). I have eaten SAD up until 53 days ago, so this is a huge change and an amazing shift for me. If only you knew how badly I was eating just recently! Oh boy. Transitions, transitions! It’s all good. Celebrate your successes! :-)
