I’m new to this too, just found some young coconuts for the 1st time today, had some left over so going to leave it in the fridge in some of the water in an airtight pot overnight, hope that’ll be ok but plan to use it tmrw anyway… I can let you know – I’ll be gutted if it doesnt last, just too full to finish it all, it was my second one. can you OD on them?? :-)
The coco-meat can be frozen. It usually lasts 7 days in the fridge, but don’t use after 10 days. the water can also be frozen, but tastes funny after, if taken straight. it won’t taste as funny if used in a recipe though. I don’t think you can OD on them, but I would imagine after 2 coconuts, you’d be a little full. lol Blessings!
I was a little but very exited as it was the first time I’d tried them – loved them! It was ok the next day in the fridge, but tasted slightly diff, think youre right about not having it straight, I put it all in a smoothie. I think if you want straight meat & water its best to go for fresh. Havent tried freezing though.. I think once its out of the coconut it starts to change, noticed the same with a mature coconut I made some curry sauce from (yet to post – lush) tasted a bit odd next day..
