What IS THIS?!!?

Ok, so I am making raw oatmeal raisin cookies and I soaked oat groats overnight and then blended them with the water they soaked in and am now putting it through a nut mylk bad. The stuff that is coming out looks and feels like Elmer’s Glue… WHAT IS IT? I am supposed to use the oat meats for the cookies, and 2 TBS of this mylk liquid, but I have hardly any meats left and SOOO MUCH LIQUID/GLUE! What can I use this stuff for? Thanks!

Sorry this is reaching you so late… You could blend your ‘oat glue’ with bananas and cinnamon and sweetener for some porridge. Top with fruit.

did you use really raw oats? just wondering if it was coz they were the normal steamed ones they sell everywhere, that might of made it go wrong?? You could use it for hanging wallpaper? Or making papier mache ornaments?

I have seen this happen with those pre steamed quick oats

  • It’s just what happens with oats. It’s what gives porrige its texture.

  • I’ve used raw oat groats also. You have to rinse them off quite a few times. Use a nut milk bag. Every few hours, rinse them off in the sink. Once they sprout about a quarter of an inch, rinse til all of the goo is gone and then you can use them in which ever recipe you want.
