need help with home!

I had a huge art session the past two days. Mostly I used acrylic paints and spray paints. I didnt really notice it at the time but I got tons of paint on the carpet. Is there an easy way to get this out? its already dry.

ALso, some black spraypaint ended up on a white wall. Is there a way to remove the black paint? Or should I just buy new white paint and do a cover up. Will the black point bleed through?

  • When I need to get a bad stain off a wall, I dampen a terry cloth rag with rubbing alcohol, and rub the stain until it’s gone. It takes a thin layer of the paint with it, but it gets rid of the stain.

About the carpet.. that’s a bit trickier. Acetone will dissolve the carpet along with the paint, so don’t use that. I’d try the rubbing alcohol + terry cloth trick on the carpet too, and if that doesn’t work, spot-test some paint thinner on a part of the carpet that isn’t visible, and if it doesn’t mess it up, try the terry cloth with that.

Edit: On second thought, spot-test the alcohol before you use it too (just to be sure).

  • Thanks. Ill try this out when I get home tonight. Kevlar, the spraypaint itself is made out of acetone. Is that bad for the carpet?

  • Actually, I was just looking around some more and it looks like acetone might only dissolve the carpet padding, so you might try it. Just make sure it doesn’t penetrate all the way to the base of the carpet, and again, spot-test it on a place that isn’t visible first. Be sure to open all your windows, and don’t light a match! :P

  • If not to deep a stain and nothing else works I have given the carpet a trim!

  • WD-40 might actually be the way to go. Just found this: http://www.wisegeek.com/how-can-i-remove-dried-...
