satchy, I think xpress411 means a financial state of crisis.
My advice would be to firstly plant a garden. It doesn’t matter where you are or your living situation a garden is always possible.
Secondly(something I’m doing now) is find a listing of all the local farmers and contact them to see if you can get bulk produce for a cheaper price or even just work for produce. They are open to things like that for repeat customers.
Hope that helps you:)
Buy things in bulk that store well, and seeds that you can either sprout or plant in a garden. You can store things like grains, alfalfa seeds & lentils for sprouting, and you can also store spices, oils, nuts, flaxseed, honey/agave, etc. I buy all of these things in bulk, and it saves me a lot of money, as well as giving me peace of mind knowing I’ll have something to eat if there’s a huge crisis with super expensive food or no food available in the stores, etc. I agree with tjab about the garden. Even if it’s just a potted tomato plant indoors – everything helps. Something else I’ve done recently is to figure out how much of the foods I eat, that I can get for $1: like 2 1/2 cups of sunflower seeds, or 1/4 of a certain recipe, etc. Now, I look at the list, and I focus on eating first what is most filling or most nutrient-dense for the price. I have things constantly soaking or sprouting to make things cheaper. It’s kind of turning into a fun little game. :)
Oops my mistake :)
Troublesjustabubble and angie your answers make more sense then.
I am a big dope…I read the title and thought it referred to “mood-depression.” Then read Troubles post and was like, “yeah gardens make you feel better!” The “OHHHHH!” came a little late on that one. It was kinda funny how she is like “FIRST.plant a garden” I thought this chick apparently has a proven plan to beat depression!
