Detox, When Will It End?

I’ve been Raw for a month and a half,I am 90% raw, I say 90% but I basicly don’t eat anything cooked, but I assume some of the nuts I eat arn’t raw, even though I try to double check everything, before going raw I was vegan&organic for about 3.5years, I don’t have a hard detox but its kinda annoying, at first I was a bit low on energy(ever since im booming with energies), after that I had stomach aches, then some head aches and now I have some sort of rash, every cut\scratch I have itches&burns and I have some small red areas with small bumps, every symptom I described was rather mild, nothing too serious but still disturbing, how long should the detox suppose to last?

  • I was describing this exact rash in my thread called “Detox Symptom?”. I’m scratching as I type. I’ve been transitioning to raw for about 6 weeks now. I’m not 100%, so it’s been pretty gradual. First, I had a runny nose all the time. It comes and goes, still. I had a headache that came and went every evening for a week. It’s gone now. I’ve gone through tired periods, when I was falling asleep at 9:30 pm in front of the TV. Now, I’m mostly fine. Most of the time, I’m finding I have lots of energy. My mood is pretty great. It’s just this rash that started out as tiny bumps on my lips and around my mouth. The bumps don’t look bad at all. The problem is the itch. My entire face itches, except my forehead. My neck itches, particularly behind my ears. My whole ribcage area itches and sometimes the backs of my hands itch. There are no bumps anywhere except on my face, yet the itch is the same. I should also mention that my lips are burning as if they are chapped, but they aren’t chapped. I have balm on them all the time now.

I went to visit my health food store owner, who knows quite a bit. She couldn’t see any rash, but thought my symptoms were definitely detox and thought aloe might help with the itch. I went there to by some GSE (grapefruit seed extract), in case my symptoms are as a result of an overgrowth of yeast. I’m using it now, along with Zeolite (to purge any heavy metals in my system) and will start taking probiotics today. This is to help keep any yeast overgrowth in check.

I have no advice for you, ras-saadon, but I sympathize. I’m SOOOO itchy right now. I’m really hoping this doesn’t last much longer. Now that the weather is getting colder here in Canada, my skin will become more dry and will naturally be a bit itchy. I hope I don’t wind up looking like a dog or cat that has fleas!

  • Yea I know how you feel, the itching can drive someone crazy hehe, for me its the knuckles that are the worst and inside part of the arms. what is yeast overgrowth? and Zeolite? thanks for the info :).

  • Everyone has yeast inside of them. Sometimes it becomes overgrown and out of control, and it becomes Candida. Candida can appear as a vaginal yeast infection, but it also has other symptoms, such as rashes, headaches and achy joints and muscles. Oral contraceptives and antibiotics can disturb healthy levels of yeast as well. I’m not positive I have it, but there’s a good possibility, so I’m being proactive with the GSE and probiotics. Zeolite is a natural cellular defense dietary supplement. It is supposed to help remove heavy metals and toxins from the body. It’s also an immune system support and is supposed to balance the body’s PH levels. I have no idea if it will do anything noticeable, but I figured I’d give it a try. I was a sushi and sashimi fan for many years, and ate my share of fish and shellfish, which are known to contain varying levels of mercury. I just thought the detox might be a good idea.

  • Mine lasted about a month, but I had a horrible SAD diet before that. I rarely ate any fruits or veggies before. It’s crazy how much I detoxed considering I wasn’t even doing raw 100%. I would say things started tapering off after week three or so. But the effects lasted at least a month, maybe just a bit more. My side effects were mostly head aches. I think a lot of it had to do with giving up smoking as well. But from what I was told when I asked this same thing is it depends on the person.
