really raw oats- washed?

I really like oats, and bought myself an oatflaker, but my sister said that organic grains ought to be washed (after all, we wash our produce before we use it). I can see that this would be good, but then I would have to wash, and then dry my oat groats before I put them through the flaker. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?



  • Optimally you would be soaking your groats before eating them anyway. Most seeds, including grains, should be sprouted before consumption. It's a little bit more of a hassle, but the difference in taste and the ease of digestion is totally worth it.
