Awesome CSA in Chicago Area

King’s Hill Farm delivers to several pick up areas in the city and burbs one day per week. The shares are weekly $33/bushel or $22/half bushel, with an option for “fruit surprise” at around $15/week (depending on what they can get). KHF is kind of a hybrid, since they do grow organi produce, but they supplement with stuff they get from an organic foods wholesaler, especially in off-season. You can also place special orders from a list they post weekly and skip weeks, if necessary. Membership is $60/year.

This week, my half share contained:
2 bananas
3 plums
2 bunches of broccoli
1 bunch of chard
1 bunch of some other kind of green
3 oranges
2 potatoes
2 small, white onions
3 tomatoes
1 carrot
1 zucchini
1 cucumber
1 green melon that I’m thinking is a watermelon

My fruit surprise:
5 peaches
1 pint blueberries
huge bag of red grapes—HUGE
