Hi all
This is day 8 of being raw for the first time ever! I seem to be getting the hang of things! At first I was always hungry, then I added more fruit, green smoothies. This is what I eat more or less in a typical day. Please feel free to coment and suggest ways I can improve.
2-3 glasses of water first thing inthe morning
Green smoothie; 2 pears, 1 kiwi, 6 kale leaves. tbls flax, hemp and chia seeds, maca. Or 1 mango, and kale 1 cup of water added
1 banana, 1 orange
1/2 cup raw oatmeal with nut milk and dates
Lg salad; romain, spinach, zucchini, tomato, cucumber, peppers, black olives, 1/4 avocado, sprinkle of hemp seeds, and a few pumpkin seeds, small piece of feta crumbled (can't seem to give this up ) dressing olive oil, red wine vinager, sea salt, greek spices ( my all time fav )
cup of herb tea (for warmth, I am always cold now) Chia Rooibus with a little honey
and lots of water
some times I have the salad for lunch and a green smoothie for dinner
some times I will have 3-4 dates if I am craving junk food, seems to help with the cravings
I feel good, not really any detox symtoms yet. No spike in energy, about the same as before.

I struggled giving up feta before I became vegan. This raw cheese is a great substitute:

lulshka8, how many fruits a day is enough? Not sure how much to eat.
You absolutely need more calories, at very most your eating 1000 calories. Everyone needs more calories than that, but it depends on how large of a person you are.
Wow, you think I am only eating 1000 cals a day! I haven't sat down to work it out yet, maybe I should! How many calories do I need in a day? I am 5' 3", I started out at 143lbs and now I'm 138lbs. And right now due and an injury I am more sedentary than I usually am. this is a little confusing, but I will keep trying, as I really like the way I feel since Istarted eating this way.
By the way, you guys are great. thanks for all the help, I am doing this alone, so your help is greatly appreciated!
You can enter everything you eat into www.fitday.com and it will work out calories, fat/carb/protein %'s. It's really helpful to use when you first start raw.
Everyone's different in terms of the intake of calories they feel best on, but there are online calculators which work out how many calories you burn just by being alive, then factor your activity level into it, etc.
just to put another opinion out there, you don't have to load up on fruit if it doesn't feel right. i think everyone's tolerance for this is different. for example my husband gets bad candida if he eats to much fruit. i can tolerate more but i tend to not overeat high-sugar fruits. i am more of a berry eater.
when i first started raw i would have LOTS of green smoothies.that helped fill in more calories. although it is higher fruit.
now i tend to do more seeds like hemp, chia, or flax to add in calories.

I am doing more green smoothies and I always add hemp, chia and flax to it. Today is day 13 and I feel good, so I must be doing something right!
