Coconut Oil for Skin

Those of you that use coconut oil on your skin, do you use the raw, organic variety? Is that critical?

yes, never apply anything on your skin that you coundt eat or wouldnt eat. also cold pressed oil is what you want. ideally a glass amber jar since oils can go rancid very easily.

also remember not to apply the coconut oil around your eyes since the coconut oil exceeds 100 ppm (parts per million), which means it will not be absorbed thru the skin around the eyes. the rest of the body is fine.

you can use avocado or cacao butter around the eyes since the molecules are much smaller.

dont be afraid to eat the coconut oil to. lube up that skin from the inside out. :)

acai100 is great for the skin. after 30-45 days youll notice a difference in your skin.

i use cold pressed, non refined, extra virgin coconut oil. it is FANTASTIC! i would say its important to use the best kind of coconut oil you can find, because i figure if its a refined oil, it’ll act like a refined oil on your skin. thats interesting about the cacao butter worleyhimself2, i’ll try that, thanks!

I use the cold pressed, extra virgin, organic as well. I also don’t use comercially made cleansers. I figure, if I am trying to eat ‘clean’, I should also put ‘clean’ stuff on my face. i would like to make my world as chemical free as I can!

  • Thanks, makes sense and duly noted! That said, do you guys have a favorite brand/online source?

  • I absolutely love international Harvest, their coconut oil is organic, cold-pressed, and very easy to scoop out of the jar – no warm water required!!

yes, i think the one i have is called “living foods”. i use it on my face about everyday right after i get out of the shower. i really don’t use any facial cleansers anymore, but i have very dry skin. i’m thinking about trying a raw honey mask, i’ve heard that is very moisturerizing.

Do you know if the coconut oil causes breakouts? Just wondering…I’m pretty prone to acne. Also, does anyone know of a good recipe for a facial cleanser?

    Thanks!
