Noooooo way :(, my father is growing tomatoes and always gets his seeds from De Ruiter Seeds.
And so the poisoning of the masses begins…
Yes, I read this on The Journal the other day.
So where CAN we get good seeds? ...well, at least now… I assume organic farmers still get there seeds from a good reputable place (non-GE). And, it a few years ago that a seed-storage/archive place caught on fire and was destroyed.
Here are a few:
Seeds of Change
Organica Seed
Heirloom Seeds
Southern Exposure Seed Exchange
Seed Saver’s Exchange
Seeds Trust
Park Seeds
Victory Heirloom Seeds
Organic Consumer’s Association’s List of Suppliers
Green People’s List of Suppliers
The true heirloom seeds may be closer to what nature intended since they are purported to be open-pollenated stock.
I’ve bought from Victory Seeds before, they really care about keeping the heirlooms going! That’s why I love the company. One of the tomato seeds I grew last year dated back to before 1900. It was neat to be able to eat tomatoes that have gone all this time and haven’t been screwed with!
What about Ferry-Morse seeds???
Are they truly organic. I just bought a whole much of them, but I am scared to use them now. Does anybody have a link or know, if they are safe???
Oh, I think my husband just found the answer regarding Ferry-Morse seeds at this link…
http://homeharvestseeds.com/ferrymorsemain.htm
quote from their site…
Ferry-Morse Seeds are not chemically treated in any way. All Ferry-Morse seeds are non-GMO. Pelleted seeds are pelletized with an organic clay mix.
Wow, Dain500! Thanks.
Thanks for posting this Newbie. I hadn’t known. How utterly sad. :(
Thanks for the list Dain!
Just an FYI- Seeds of Change are owned by M&M Mars :(

Another great alternative to obtaining organic seeds while supporting small-scale, sustainably run farms and farmers is:

www.territorialseed.com , they grow alot of their own seed organically . excellent seeds in my experience and when you read their catalog / philosophy you see they care about the enviroment and peoples health , plus are pretty bright .
then a little family looking type company thats totally organic and produces all or most their own seed = www.highmowingseeds.com .. their seed are %100 organically grown , yeah them ;-)
This is tragic. Jeez. there they go again, poisoning the food supply. thanks for the post, newbie.
