Coconut oil and coconut butter are the same – it’s essentially coconut oil.
Artisana has thrown a wrench into the the whole thing with their version of coconut butter, which is ground from whole coconut. Not a criticism, I love it and use it everyday! It’s sweet, unlike coconut oil (which is still wonderful in its own way).
Let’s Do Organic dried coconut is raw, dehydrated at 95-105 degrees (I forgot which temp was correct). I e-mailed the company once upon a time.
I don’t know where to find the best prices on nuts. Amazon.com is pretty cheap, though.
Here are some great raw food websites: sunfood.com, naturalzing.com, rawguru.com, livingtreecommunity.com.
Good luck! :)
Luna blu knows where to get really raw nuts. I bet if you search the forums under really raw nuts and check her posts, you will find it. i get my organic unrefined coconut oil at a natural Food Warehouse near my house, but it is available at Whole Foods and most health food stores. i like Nutiva brand. Sunfood has a dried coconut that is raw and achin70 thank you for checking that out w/ let’s Do Organic!
Izhpt: You’re welcome! I like this brand because it’s raw, organic and cheap. Better than paying $6.00/lb. for dried coconut online. :)
I found Let’s Do Organic shredded unsweetened coconut at my local Hy-Vee for like TWO BUCKS , actually. I’ve never ordered food off the internet before, so I’m kind of hesitant to do that, I guess.
