soaking grains - ferment overnight

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum, and to raw food. This is the beginning of my 3rd week, and so far so good (very minimal cheating;)). I’ve come across a problem, though. I’ve been trying to soak some barley berries overnight, but by morning they are fermenting. They sprout tiny tails, and are producing a TON of froth and a yeasty smell. I think I accidentally made rejuvelac! Can these berries still be used for porridge or granola? Or should they be discarded? How do I soak them without fermenting them?

Thanks! Maharet

I’m not sure but when that happens to me, I rinse them extremely well and use them as planned… So far, I’m still living and haven’t become sick… LOL

Feel sure there is someone that can be a better adviser, for you on this site… GRIN

  • Either they might have been heat processed (not raw) or simply just a bad batch.
