I used to use it a lot when I was transitioning into raw, but I found the taste to be a little too strong and my smoothies didn't taste a good as they would without it. But I wanted the extra protein. I stopped using it because I felt like I was forcing myself to drink my smoothies and I wasn't enjoying them. However I've never noticed that it affected my digestion.
I'm wondering if it's troubling me because I'm mixing it with fruit? Oh bother...
what exactly is Vega natural flavor? I've sworn against any "natural flavors" but the God(universe) given kind.
Natural flavor is the plain powder, not chocolate or berrie flavored powder
It sort h of has this flaxy type of taste....I really like it, but I'm not positive that it's raw...Well, I like it aside from the upset stomach and the angry bloating...
It could just be some type of intolerance. Like how some bodies can't handle lactose... same type of thing.
if you like the flax type taste, why not substitute ground flax instead? There's no way it can be raw if it's been put into a powder, and is called a "flavoring" listen to your body, telling you no, and find something that is just as good, that makes you feel good too!
why not go for hemp protein powder? or vitamineral green, or greener grasses, or the tons of fun veggie/protein supplements available out there. therawfoodworld.com has a ton of them, and in my experience they taste much better.
ah, very good idea:) I guess I got sucked in by the hype around this VEGA whole-meal powder...oh silly me:)
I love the vega meal replacement, and my favourite flavour is the chai. I've never found that it gave me digestion problems, but I always drank it straight with just water...although to be fair, I'm not 100% raw (around 50%, all vegan). Anyway, it is a really high quality product, so try it a few times with plain water (I'd recommend the chai) and see how you react:)
The Vega meal powders are about 75% raw, if anyone is curious. At least that's what I was told when I spoke to someone at the company.
Tabby- I had the same issue when I first jumped into it. I read either in his book or on the website that you are supposed to transition into using an entire packet but you should start with just half until your body adjusts. That's what I had been doing, plus it saves money because they are pretty expensive. The natural flavor one is my favorite though and I do mix half into my smoothies.
okay, SO! I'm happy to say that I've switched powders: I'm now using just a ground up hemp from www.iherb.com
It's LOVELY! I"m so happy about it, it's going down nicely, blends well, and no tummy troubles at all! yay!
