  • Actually… this brings up a question I have. I love to name off all the great reasons I eat raw foods. We just got The Balanced Plate by Renée Loux yesterday, and she talks about reasons for going raw. Here’s her list, which I think is pretty good: …
  • Hey, welcome to Gone Raw! I never imagined it could be so easy to eat raw in NYC. Portland still has a way to go, but it’s pretty good.
  • I love me some wheatgrass juice! As I was starting a raw food diet, I went through a nutritionist-guided detoxification. I feel like that helped a lot. It was obvious to me, through the process, that I was “shedding” some sort of “buildup” from some…
  • I posted a list of my own personal food photography tips today, in case anyone is interested!
  • Very interesting! I didn’t know there was really a law that you have to show the actual food in the photograph.
  • Looks like someone’s added the “remote” to their site. Pretty cool!
  • Excellent suggestion. Done, and I put it on the same page as the other stuff. Promote away!!!
  • Incidentally, last night we also added “badges.” They’re on the same page as the Remote feature – feel free to grab one and put it on your website!
  • If anyone else adds this feature to their blog or website, please post a link here! We’d love to see Gone Raw out and about!
  • Hi Jan, welcome to Gone Raw!!
  • My guess would be that you’re not getting enough iron, or perhaps that you just need to add more nuts to your diet for a while. However, I am not a doctor, and I would always defer to the advice of a good nutritionist on this one.

  • I’d like to think it’s a bit of both!
  • “Living foods” seems to imply that no animal products are involved, as you might consider them “dead.” Raw foods might include meat or dairy that isn’t cooked.
  • By the way, there is an excellent interview with the author, T. Colin Campbell, online for free. It was in a particular episode of Raw Vegan Radio. You can jump straight to the MP3 audio too, if you want.
  • I will second that recommendation of The China Study. It’s a great book – as empirical and scientific as it gets – and while he doesn’t call his recommendation a “raw diet,” that’s pretty much what it is. The book’s title comes from the first and la…
  • While I’m certainly no doctor, my first guess would be that you’re experiencing blood sugar issues. It’s hard to say, though, because everyone is so different, and I’ve heard different stories from everyone I know who has gone raw. My advice – and m…
  • I think when someone refers to Braggs they’re referring to either their Apple Cider Vinegar (which is really nice, raw, living vinegar) or their Liquid Aminos, which are a lot like soy sauce. I’ve been a fan of the Liquid Aminos for years, preferrin…

  • Yeah, it’s still unfortunate that they use electricity… but probably very little. Which is good, because you leave them on for a long time. Still, they’re a lot better than an oven in the summer!

  • I can’t speak to that brand, but most raw foodists pretty much swear by the Excalibur. They cost more, I think, but they’re workhorses, and the folks there are really rather nice. I’ve only seen two other brands of dehydrators, but they were both qu…

  • I was rooting for the BlendTech after hearing many positive things about it from Victoria Boutenko. Our blender is a used one, probably only $50 new, and just doesn’t do the trick for a lot of foods…
  • Perfect summary, that’s how I see them too. Maybe I’m biased, but I haven’t rated any recipes below three stars yet.
  • Hi Paula, nice to meet you. We’ll do our best to help you, I think most raw foodists would agree that the holidays can be particularly trying!

  • Hi Bri! We hope you find Gone Raw helpful. We will definitely put more info on here about the equipment soon, I think it might be nice to get some idea of what to actually look for in a blender or food processor. It’s pretty common knowledge among s…

  • I’m pretty sure no law was ever passed against “subliminal advertising,” as it was widely concluded that they were not actually effective. I have noticed, however, that lately some unscrupulous interests have started using them. Television being wha…
  • Where I read about it, the author attributed it largely to the government subsidizing corn, and to a lesser extent, wheat. Which isn’t surprising. When I walk into a health food store around here, I see entire aisles virtually dedicated to corn prod…
  • That’s an interesting-sounding breakfast. I’m going to give it a try…. kiwi |ˈkēwē| noun ( pl. kiwis ) a flightless New Zealand bird with hairlike feathers, having a long down-curved bill with sensitive nostrils at the tip. Family Apterygidae and g…

  • Hey Martin! There is a Curry Cauliflower Recipe on here, but that’s probably not quite what you mean.

  • There’s an interesting and concise explanation of why to soak your nuts online. Basically, the author writes: Why is it important to soak nuts and seeds before eating them? Nuts and seeds naturally contain enzyme inhibitors. And by soaking them, you…
  • Yeah… these are good points. It’s a fine line, sometimes. For borderline cases, flagging might be sufficient. However, a raw recipe featuring tuna originally sparked the discussion between Kandace and I. We aren’t 100% raw, but we are 100% vegan. Pe…
