  • From my Nutrition Seminar workbook (CNHP): There is a section listing about 6 foods high in nutrients for each vitamin and mineral. Here are some: Vitamin D from sunflower seeds. And, also in these herbs: alfalfa, bee pollen, fenugreek, red raspberr…

  • So I had to google your comment about “technically it is a fruit”, and the first thing it came up with was “corn… is a fruit… popularly known as a grain”. and then another saying it’s a “vegetable, fruit, and grain”. So, what is it botanically? A fr…
  • On this other forum, I posted a link from Matt Amsden’s site… The Science Behind it All: The Blood Gas Theory ...scroll down about 1/4th of the way down. Maybe gas is NOT just a nut & fruit combination problem. Just FYI.
  • What are you eating them with? Combining nuts with fruits causes gas. I don’t think soaking helps… but you should be soaking them! ...to remove enzyme inhibitors.
  • I know someone who had similar problems and she sent me this link from Matt Amsden. The Science Behind it All: The Blood Gas Theory ...scroll down about 1/4th of the way down. She did a mini-cleanse which helped her… after I recommended a salt water…
  • Rawsiki, I TOTALLY went through what you are going too… and this, just after reading Trudeau’s book. I had a lot of anxiety over what I ate. I totally understand. I actually gave up. I ate cooked food, and LOTS of it for 2 weeks straight. But, I kne…
  • Yeah, same here. Good advice. I’ve been making more dehydrated foods, and flattening with a rolling pin separated by a seran wrap… and learning a few things along the way.
  • Meditating, Wow, GREAT info.
  • Yeah, I don’t know much about the MC that everyone talks about… but, I did a non-invasive clean that included a salt water flush, colon cleanser, and blood cleanser as the last stage. It was great! I also did a hot-cold sauna cleanse to eliminate to…
  • Yeah, we already did green smoothies for 50 days… not sure when we should see weight gain. We actually stopped daily green smoothies because they were constipating, so we drink them every now-and-then. I did go to her lecture, so I understand why yo…
  • Yeah, we haven’t tried weight lifting… not my favorite workout activity. :o) How often did you weight lift the year you put on 35 pounds?
  • Yes, good question. I am interested in more responses. My husband is 6 ft tall and has weighted 120 lbs for many years! He eats a lot of nuts too. And we have tried green smoothies, but only for 2 months. I’m not worried… just curious how to get him…
  • Wow, Monsanto is a big place!
  • In this article, the ‘engineered potato’ is not harvested for food consumption. Just serves as a signal crop. Hmmm, but I wonder if those will cross pollinate with non ‘engineered potatoes’. I know little of GM, how it works… those are the thoughts …
  • Yum. How about coconut macaroons! They are yummy. And, you don’t really need to dehydrate them.
  • Ah yes, I agree with nycgrrl. A high-speed blender (VitaMix or BlendTec) is less messier too. And, you can make nut butters with it, however difficult it is to get them out of the container. (But, I prefer the VitaMix over BlendTec…. I have both.) :…
  • That’s true for all juicers… have to drink it in about 30 minutes. Smoothies (with the fiber) will oxidize slower.
  • Jack Lalanne Juicer or Champion Juicer. I have a Cuisinart food processor… love it.
  • Cacao is what chocolate is made from… it is a ‘stimulant’ but has a lot of antioxidents. Carob is a bean… used as a substitute for chocolate. It doesn’t taste similar… and there’s only so much one can eat of it (unlike chocolate/cacao, yum). Some re…

  • Natural Zing sells it! That’s where I get mine from… they’re in MD near where I live. They sell for about $5.79 for 16 ounces. Or 5 lbs for $25. Just a reminder… if you are substituting it for cacao… use 1/4-1/3 the cacao amount for carob.

  • Absolutely. They are softer too. (depends what you eat). The first time I went raw, they were greener… but, the guy (whose raw diet I tried) told me it had to do with some mucus or bile-type stuff coming out… wish I could remember exactly which and …

  • Which recipe are you using? Maybe add flax to the batter to it stays together better. I think the coconut oil is a great idea! I may have to try that on my crepes. The teflex sheets work better than the parchment paper for crepes, btw. Your not maki…

  • Onion bread and guacamole! Sprouts and cucumber dressing! :o) I guess these aren’t simple combinations… So, here are simpler ones: dates + coconut butter spinach + mango (all blended)
  • Great advice pianissima!
  • Interesting website you have… “story for steve”! Yes, I agree… I too feel addicted to my cooked food when I try going 90% raw for longer than 2 months! Victoria Boutenko has a book 12 Steps to Raw Foods I particularly like the sub-title: How to end …
  • rawbeginner, they can get away with it… because they use RAW ingredients… raw in the sense of unadulterated… not raw the way we would like, as in biogenic, bioactive, alive!
  • Larabars are raw. But, I called and they do NO germinate their nuts/seeds. Almost a perfect raw bar. But hey, if you don’t germinate the cashews… the Larabars with cashew would be okay – right?
  • I love my husband. He is interested in health & nutrition and teaches raw food classes with me. We’ve been married 2.5 years. I am so blessed… he eats anything and everything I make him… which is a good and bad thing. Good because he eats all my…
  • Someone took some to work the other day… it really smelled. A few Vietnamese prefer frozen durian ice cream over fresh durian… maybe it’s because of the lack of smell when frozen. guessing
