  • I never refrigerate mine. I took it last summer on the boat that I work on, and it was great. I left it outside and it was nice and warm and liquid when I used it.

  • http://www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/texas/houston/ It's pretty slim pickins in Houston! I posted a recipe called instant hot cereal a couple of days ago, it travels very well and would take care of breakfast. I also make an instant soup. I deh…
  • I don't live in Houston, but was there recently, I live in the Dallas area. However, when I was there I did a search and found a place called Pat Greer's Kitchen. They prepare takeout raw vegan food. They also sell through a company called My Fit Fo…
  • Harry and David is a company that delivers gourmet food gifts, and they are known for their fruit delivery service. You can check them out at HarryandDavid.com. I've always gotten premium quality fruit from them.

  • They're expensive, but Harry and David would send it to you. Of course, they're cheap compared to DW! You know what else, there is a campground on the property, you can get there using their transportation, they've got a small store, can't remember …

  • I have heard that cayenne will repel them too. I once had trouble with neighborhood cats using my flowerbeds as litter boxes and that helped. Not sure how or if it'll affect the birds.
  • I make hummus with zucchini and it is really good. I often use the cores leftover from spiralizing. Then I add sesame seeds or tahini, cumin, lime juice, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. It works well. If I'm using whole zucchini, I peel it, grate it…
  • I live in the Dallas, Texas area, where we have one, Bliss Cafe, I like it. However, I spend a lot of time in Austin, Texas, there are 3 or 4 there. My favorite is the Daily Juice Cafe!
  • They are very easy to grow. I have them in my herb garden, they come back every springI. However, I've also grown them indoors in a pot put in a windowsill.

  • Matt Amsden's Rawvolution has an excellent apple cookie recipe. It's sliced and grated apples, ground almonds, raisins, agave and cinnamon. All of my non raw food friends go crazy over them. Crackers are one of my favorite things to make. I love the…
  • I add it to smoothies, it has a hint of vanilla flavor and will add a bit of sweetness. I like it a lot.
  • I add brazil nut protein powder to stuff. It has a good flavor, but if you use too much it gets gritty. I order it from Naturalzing.com.
  • I haven't done this, but I wonder if grated, dried jicama would work. It's nice and sweet and would look the same.
  • I make a vegetable broth that I really like. It is dry so I just add warm water and I'm ready to go. I dry red bell pepper, carrot, celery, tomatoes, green onion, parsley and cilantro until totally dry. Then I grind it all in the coffee grinder. I t…

  • I think it's because you put som much cocoa butter. Usually the recipe calls for a small amount. You may have to add a bunch more cocoa. I'd also add a pinch of salt. You will have a huge batch though!

  • In the US, cilantro is the leaves of the plant, coriander is the seeds. You can buy the seeds whole and ground. I have tried dried cilantro, it doesn't have nearly the flavor of the fresh. I dry it myself now and then when I have an excess. But, it'…
  • Raisins work very well in anything with chocolate. I use dates and figs too.
  • A fantastic snack is a brazil nut pushed inside of a pitted date-delicious, and very portable. Brazils also make a very nice milk.

  • I LOVE chia seeds. I mix them with veg pulp, ground pumpkin seeds and buckwheaties tomake crackers. I also mix up a huge jar with chia, raw oats, buckwheaties, raisins, and cinnamon and i have my own instant oatmeal. I eat it everyday.
  • Carrots pack well and are great to snack on. Nutritional yeast, while isn't raw, is acceptable to many. It contains B vitamins and is delicious! You can chop some cauliflower, drizzle a tiny bit of oil on it , put it in a ziploc with some yeast and …
  • I have done 3 eleven day MCs with good results. I had been raw 1 year the first time. Every time I have seen benefits, each time they've been different. The last time I did it with a friend that is definitely on the SAD! He had an easy time of it an…
