  • Yikes! McCancer. An appropriate moniker. This reminds me of the 2004 documentary film by Morgan Spurlock “Supersize Me”. By the 3rd week of a month long McDonalds diet one of his doctor’s told him his liver was sustaining damage as if he were an al…
  • Hi Love4Life, I copied and pasted what I wrote from another forum below as it fits the topic…. http://www.goneraw.com/forums/8/topics/7016 “I would just like to emphasize how versatile zucchini’s are – you can make: zucchini pasta — in sooooo ma…
  • Hi jellibi, There are 2 great threads on poison ivy that may provide you with helpful information: http://goneraw.com/forums/3/topics/6221 http://goneraw.com/forums/6/topics/6770 Good luck & best of health to you! PS: I might be wrong, but I…
  • Good Grief! Will the government ever quit allowing the Frankenfood?!? Sometimes I feel like the US Government would start making Soylent Green this instant if they could. The consumer be damned – anything for money. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S…
  • I might be in the minority, but I think that the mature coconuts taste better.

  • shgadwa – Iceland? That’s amazing! Like heathermarsbomb I would love to just get to visit Iceland, but to move there (or Germany, or England, or Australia) is a dream for me! I sure wish you all the best! btw -heathermarsbomb, the book sounds reall…
  • raspberryswirl – My lists are sort of an amalgam of all of the lists above, but I would just like to emphasize how versatile zucchini’s are - you can make: zucchini pasta—in sooooo many ways! zucchini hummus (there is an excellent recipe on this s…
  • no problem nycgrrl – I just felt I had to say something. I live in NY, but not NYC and I find prices to be really looney and often difficult to manage. I can only imagine what it is like in the city. Wishing you and everyone all the best. – Cheers!
  • nycgrrl—just want you to know that there are a lot of people out there (myself included) that feel the same crunch as you. Buying real Raw Olive Oil, Raw Sesame Oil, Raw Cacao, Raw Nuts… Plus purchasing Organic vegetables & fruits is VERY expens…
  • Parchment paper does not need “wax” to be non-stick. Occasionally you may get a recipe that is a bit troublesome in terms of stickiness, but I’ve used parchment paper for years & years with no big problems whatsoever. It works great!
  • another vote for parchment paper, but try to get the unbleached parchment paper. It’s brown. queenfluff- I didn’t know that they made natural wax paper—I’ll keep an eye out for that because wax paper is good for stacking cookies & bars in the…
  • Hmmmmmmm I don’t know. If it’s only been one day I’m not sure if it could be a ‘detox’ thing. I mean LindsayLove, maybe you do have a headache from caffeine withdrawal as stRAWberry stated, But I would think it would take more than a day for other…
  • mellie bellie, bethechange has a really good point. My dental hygienist said the same thing about lemons. She said it’s OK to drink smoothies and juices with Lemon, but not to drink it too slowly ie—not to sip it all day. AND to brush you teeth imme…
  • That sounds like a great evening – very informative too. Thanks for sharing! Cheers
  • PS—I’m so envious of (but happy for) those who have raw food restaurants nearby! But I am grateful that at least there is a vegetarian deli where I live. Although most of their food is cooked they do occasionally offer a raw dish now & then.
  • yeah, it’s funny… salmon sushi / sashimi is the one thing that I find a bit challenging to give up. Maybe I was a bear in another life – kidding, :) duh But seriously I was more than happy to give up meat, poultry, and all dairy… don’t miss them at…
  • Wow! I just watched that video a little while ago – thanks to the link here by amysue and then I found it also posted to Crooks & Liars! Awesome! C&L is the political blog that gives us the stories Mega-Corporate Media won’t. http://www.c…
  • angie – i know it’s not raw, but if you like black beans—black bean hummus is very good – did you ever try it? It’s tasty, cheap, and a rather healthy snack to fix for yourself or your non-raw family or friends.
  • Hi bitt, good points brought up. There should be much more education about cruelty to animals—about everything from the importance of spaying/neutering to the evils of factory farming. It’s one thing to eat meat or feed it to your dog, but the mean…
  • Meditating that is highly disturbing news… Huffington Post is a very credible source too (IMHO)...
  • Bluedolphin, “In an insane society the sane man appears insane” – Spock, Star Trek grin! :) PS: Thanks BTW! I hope the ice bins work for you! But if not, maybe blowing bubbles will relax you enough to not even notice the heat!
  • Yes Meditating & Mon46 I see what you mean – similarly I use the AC only when both the temperature is quite high and it’s also very humid – just to take the edge off. I can’t stand it to be on constantly – or for the room to be like a refrigerat…
  • Hey – I think it’s great to not use AC. I haven’t used mine much at all this summer either. I only wished to offer a possible suggestion of a way to keep cool without AC. And the second bit was just for fun. Honestly.
  • Rockma, you might just want to check out this recent thread on the topic…. It might give you some ideas. Cheers! http://goneraw.com/forums/3/topics/6857
  • Addendum to my last post—when you use Teeccino you can ‘cut’ it with your favorite coffee. You don’t necessarily have to quit coffee cold turkey (or at all if you choose not to). You can mix both together for a while until you opt to have only the …
  • Cappuccinofairy—have you ever tried Teeccino?? It’s REALLY quite good! Especially when you add a dash of almond milk. It’s an herbal substitute for coffee AND it’s Alkaline NOT Acidic! The Vanilla Nut and the Chocolate Mint are my personal favori…
  • Nuttgirl, yes balance is key in just about all things (if not all). Please don’t take this next part as a lecture because I truly don’t mean it that way. I believe that people on this blog site are just so interested in helping that sometimes we m…
  • Nuttgirl, you have some very good observations. I’d just like to add that there are 4 different thyroid hormones & you should get All 4 Thyroid hormone levels checked. Some doctors do not run the whole series when they do your blood work. I k…
  • Smoothies can be quite high in calories – depending on what you add to it. If you see David Wolfe make a smoothie on YouTube – he adds just about everything! :) But seriously – just adding 1/2 avocado or some coconut ups the calories quite a bit. I…

  • I am not positive, but I think that David Wolfe gets most of his calories from smoothies and juicing. Montel Williams is another person who gets “75 percent of his daily caloric intake in the form of liquids and blended foods.” Heidi & Justin O…
