  • I really like this one: http://goneraw.com/node/573 (but I make it with agave instead of honey, & I only use about 1/2 Tbs)
  • I eat so much fruit these days, that I hardly ever need to drink water. The plant does the filtering for me. What little water I do drink is just filtered tap water.
  • 1) Banana 2) Raw cheesecake 3) Greens, oranges, bell peppers, cucumber, tomatoes
  • It probably was the cacao, I’m afraid. It contains other chemicals besides caffeine that can trigger migraines. :( (I’m lucky – if I feel a migraine coming on, some cacao (or back in the day, a cup of espresso) stops mine dead in its tracks.)
  • Of course, if you don’t want to increase your fat intake, there’s always the good, old-fashioned prunes or prune juice. My Grandma used to to swear by it. :D
  • You could try chia seeds too. Lots of recipes for them on this site. :)
  • Check out hydroponics suppliers online – you’ll be able to get the right kinds of lights from them.
  • Have a look at The Complete Book of Raw Food. It’s a pretty good introduction, & seems to cover most of the basics, and has a great range of recipes to try (lots of them with pretty standard ingredients you should even be able to find there). Yo…

  • This is a good demo on how to open a young coconut: http://www.rawguru.com/openyoungcoconut.html It’s pretty easy once you’ve practiced on a couple, though I do find it easier with a cleaver than with a knife.
  • If these bags are so green, why aren’t they made of organic cotton? As for using old bags, our local supermarket was giving away free totes on Earth Day (with their logo on the side, of course), and it took us 7 or 8 goes to convince the cashier tha…
  • You could try the stainless steel trick I mentioned in this thread. You can even buy stainless steel ‘deodorant sticks’ now. You may find you need to reuse it a couple of times a day, but that’s no hassle.

  • Thanks for the Tree of Life article, sleeknraw – well written & informative. A lot of people here seem to have strong beliefs when it comes to B12, but beliefs don’t change the science: most people don’t absorb the B12 produced in their lower in…
  • Thanks, Bitt – that sounds tasty! (Now I just have to blindfold him so he doesn’t know it’s green LOL)
  • Oh, no, he hates durian! I’m weird in that I can take it or leave it (almost everyone else seems to either love it or hate it) – but if I ever buy any he makes me go sit out on the balcony to eat it!
  • Thanks for the ideas! I’ll have to try sneaking an avo into a recipe – see if he notices. :) I still haven’t convinced him to try a smoothie with avocado in it. The others should work too, & he loves all of those. Thanks again!
  • I have the OXO good grip mandolin, & I hate it – it really doesn’t live up to its name. The hand grip has spikes at the bottom to hold on to the veg, & this just mangles soft veg like courgettes instead of holding on to them.
  • Actually, the liquid inside is coconut water. Coconut milk is what you get if you squeeze the flesh.

  • I’ve just added my papaya salad recipe: “Thai Green Papaya Salad” :http://goneraw.com/recipes/505-Thai-Green-Papaya-Salad Some people don’t like eating green papaya because they are unripe, so not as easy to digest; if you like you can use red &…
