  • i’m actually in a similar position right now. i was raw for 30 days, then stayed pretty much raw for 2 or 3 more weeks, then i went on a vacation to the deep south! well, i tried southern foods like barbeque, fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. i…
  • i barely ever dehydrate, (i have a 9 tray excalibur) but when i do, i try to make a big bath, and do a few things at once (like on the weekend) so i have lots of food to eat for awhile.
  • i think as a little treat it should be fine. but don’t take my word for it, i’d check with someone who knows more about animal nutrition.
  • i would definitely do more research before you do this. cats are carnivorous creatures 9more so even than dogs.) feeding her coconut milk once probably won’t hurt her, but if you plan to make it a staple, i would look into it further. and mostly, i …
  • whoppers! that’s it! can’t keep track of candy. maca does affect the hormones! and no, that might not be a good thing. especially for kids.

  • wait… i haven’t had a milk dud in a long time… are they caramel? what are those malt balls called then? that’s what i meant. sorry if i got people excited about caramel flavor.

  • that’s the closest i can describe. it’s not sweet though, obviously, you have to add your own sweetener if you want it sweet. it is good to mix with cacao because it boosts adrenal function, which cacao depletes.

  • i wouldn’t say it’s chocolatey… the flavor is hard to describe… kind of like the center of a milk dud, if you’ve ever had those… i don’t know, maybe you haven’t. i would say “malt” is the closest thing i can think of for the flavor. you have to just…

  • algae is not really a supplement, it’s a food. a great food for raw vegans, since it has super high protein and b12, and is generally very nutrient dense.
  • i think i bought my cuisinart USED like at least 8 years ago, and it blends up hard dates and walnuts smooth. to me cuisinart is synonymous with food processor.
  • yeah, meat is not safer than raw food. who knows who could have been handling anything, right? i mean, do you wear rubber gloves whenever you leave the house? i hope not. i understand being freaked out though. and sure, it’s possible you got the wor…

  • i have yacon and stevia… but the yacon has such a strong flavor, and the stevia has such an unpleasant flavor, that i prefer the nice, mellow maplish flavor of the agave.
  • also, what are you all doing for easter/solstice? any raw food plans?
  • if the olives taste salty, salt has been added to them. i love them though. i also still use some nama shoyu, but i think i have have a wheat allergy, so i have to switch back to bragg’s or tamari.
  • if you marinate mushrooms (you typically would use some salt) the liquid is very flavorful and looks like nama shoyu. if you use miso (you might not, it shows up on some dead foods lists) you could use that as well. olives are usually cured in salt,…
  • slosh, it makes me feel good that you liked my advice! and maybe it’s not too late for me to live the dream either, we’ll see. by the way, i still have a glass of wine now and again as well. i had some last night, actually. and it came from a box. a…
  • slosh-uh, you’re 19, you can get away with pretty much anything. yes, it’s healthier to binge on healthy food than non healthy food. no, heavy drinking isn’t a very healthy habit. yes, i got drunk all the time when i was your age. no, i don’t get dr…
  • i know you can buy it as a supplement. i don’t think it’s raw, and i don’t know if it’s vegetarian, probably not.
  • MOTH, check out http://www.juicefeasting.com somewhere in there they talk about different juicing options. i think they are fans of the vitamix/nut milk bag system, but they talk about juicers too. from my understanding, yes, the vitamix blends whea…
  • do you already have one piece of equipment or the other? if so, i would say that one is best. there is much debate over which method is best, but the vitamix/straining technique is faster and easier to clean, plus you don’t need extra equipment arou…
  • congratulations on coming home! if you want to detox, you will probably be taking in less calories than you are used to. since you have a blender, you can make green smoothies! use spinach, mint and parsley to start… other greens are more gritty and…
  • i wouldn’t do any kind of major cleanse right now, especially juice feasting. i do think you should drink juice, but you should probably be trying to consume at least 2500 calories per day, which is very hard to do juice feasting. you’re reacting ba…
  • wow, 6’3” 115… that’s concerning. what are you typically eating now?
  • juliano has a recipe for “rainbow bubble gum” or something… but you swallow it! basically you dehydrate pretty fruit (like mango, strawberry and kiwi) and stack them up, and once they dry, twist and stretch and swirl them! sure, juliano’s crazy, but…

  • i never liked gum in the first place, but i used to take a piece if someone offered it to me, thinking they were hinting that i had bad breath! i realize now they were just being polite. but i’m not a good source, since i don’t like it anyway.

  • it cracks me up how people are always concerned about people not getting enough nutrients from raw food, when really, we should be concerned about them not getting enough nutrients from FRIED foods. my boss actually just found out about my diet and …

  • i use miso in mu sushi recipe… it’s a little more gourmet than my daily meals, but it’s fun, and really not that hard to make. check it out on my profile page. i consider unpasteurized miso a raw food because it has living cultures. it is therefore …
