  • honey is a little stickier than agave, but you might not use honey… nut butter or tahini?
  • i would recommend eating more food, in general. big smoothies with cacao, coconut and protein (either hemp protein, hemp seeds, or nuts) is a good way to get lots of calories in. try not to worry too much about gaining the weight! it will happen. ju…
  • i have a basic seaweed salad recipe, look at my profile page to find it. hey people, if you have seaweed recipes, tag them seaweed, that should help!
  • i like blended cauliflower for rice. i think it was poemomm who posted a spanish rice recipe with cauliflower. yummy. but yes, you can soak and sprout brown rice!

  • sometimes people use miso, because it is fermented as well… it depends on the recipe, but yes, you can definitely just use probiotic. you can also make rejuvelac with other grains, like buckwheat!
  • some people think it’s not raw because it’s made from a base of cooked ingredients. i think it’s a it silly, myself. juliano also uses stuff like raisins, which are usually dried at too high of a temperature… it goes on and on this way. i personally…
  • i am already in… but happy to provide support! ps, when you say 100% raw… do you mean no miso, nama shoyu, shelled nuts, etc, or are you a little more flexible? just curious.
  • i love angela stokes… she’s done some really amazing work.
  • breakfast smoothie: i can’t get into “green” smoothies, but I will add spirulina & cacao, raw power! (it’s hemp & brazil nut protein w/maca, goji berries & vanilla) banana or avocado, frozen berries, almond milk or coconut water, hemp se…
  • here’s what i did: i committed to going raw for 30 days. and yes, it was hard at first. yes, in the second week i was quite certain that i would be eating a big bowl of mac and cheese on day 31… but by then, i didn’t so much feel that way. 30 days i…
  • i guess we have no way to know how the coconuts might be preserved for their journey… and i would definitely choose organic ones when possible… but we also don’t know how the original rumor got started, and we have no definitive proof that it IS tru…
  • ok, i read the essay. the honey i buy is indeed from small, organic honey farmers who treat the bees well, and do not heat or filter the honey that i purchase. i don’t expect that we will all agree on this, but i don’t think it’s fair for someone to…
  • you can call yourself a vegan and eat honey! i find the anti-honey thing very silly. honey and bee pollen were never a part of the bees body, honey and bee pollen are incredibly life promoting, consuming honey and bee pollen does not harm the bees, …
  • that sounds tasty mham
  • larabars (or a homemade similar food), smoothie, raw bread with nut butter, etc. i typically make a smoothie in the morning, pack a salad with a few pieces of fruit for lunch, gt home and make juice, and then pick at random things for dinner. but wh…
  • hey all, check this out: http://www.rawfoodchat.com/forums/984-post3.html matt amsden sent a thai coconut to a lab and found NO formaldehyde!
  • unfortunately, i have no access to coconut factories, so i can’t see them bobbing in formaldehyde! i don’t have any trouble finding them in san francisco, but i don’t buy them except when they have organic ones at my health food co-op. but that’s no…
  • yes, artisana makes a coconut butter which is like a nut butter, only the nut is matura coconut meat. it is awesome and a great subtitute for young coconut meat if you want to avoid the formaldehyde soaked tragedies. but on your face, use a jar labe…
  • spinach kind of does that. it’s a bit of a flavor theif. i would maybe add more lime, but it depends on your taste. cumin is a good idea.
  • i wasn’t all that impressed with the book. actually, i think david wolfe is a little crazy. i mean, i think he has some good info, but he feels like a salesman to me. does anyone else feel that way? i mean, just go to http://www.thebestdayever.com/ …
  • michele ss, i didn’t care for the taste of macadamia oil, but it is highly nutritious. not sure if it’s truly raw or not, as shelled macadamias are often heat processed. personally, i don’t fuss over stuff like that. actually, it has a very high smo…
  • i use unfiltered olive oil too (i get one from trader joe’s, it’s not organic though). the bariani that fuzzy wuzzy suggested is unfiltered as well, but more expensive than the TJ’s kind. i should probably switch to that one. shgadwa, if you’re goin…
  • marinate mushrooms! you don’t have to dehydrate them. although they’re better the longer they marinate, you can eat them after 10 minutes or so. i think there’s a mushroom steak recipe on here, which is awesome. but i would just mix together mushroo…

  • if you make any pate/spread type stuff you can put a spoonful in the food processor with the nuts, greens & spices. or you can use it in a sauce to top veggies (like a curry)
  • oh also, norman walker didn’t really live that long… he died in his 90’s… http://chetday.com/normanwalker.htm
  • we do not need to worry about nutrients at all… especially if we eat leafy greens. the people who should worry about nutrients are the ones who eat fast food all the time!
  • thanks all… i’m going to develop a mint cheesecake pie type thing… will post recipe when it is finished!
  • thanks kandace… indeed, they are all big guacamole eaters. they would naturally eat it with chips though. i definitely would not want to horrify them with the likes of a green smoothie! gadzooks! but i think the key lime pie could be right on target…
