  • Lauren – Welcome! I know how hard it can be to eat something different from what you’re used to eating, especially when you’re still living with the same people who are still eating the same things you ate before. I totally respect your decision and…

  • Maybe we need the nutrition from corn? I love fresh corn, cut from the cob, stirred up with veggies & a little salt & sometimes oil. I have also made raw corn tortillas before, so I’m thinking I’ll make some this fall & freeze them to ea…
  • I have usually caved into things like this because I thought it would be easier. I was hungry, the popcorn smelled good & tasted salty, and nothing else was ready to eat. I felt AWFUL afterward, but a week later it was tempting me again. I talke…
  • The website in question used to state the same regulations in explaining why they can sell raw unpasteurized almonds. It sounds not like they can’t sell unpasteurized almonds, but like they are forbidden to TELL us if their almonds are pasteurized o…
  • Not exactly a goat cheese, but a good one I use in place of goat cheese is Zoe’s “Cheese with Spring Onions” on this site – I modify it sometimes depending on what I’m putting it with.
  • HAHAHAHA! :D You guys have a way of saying things – humans extinct & sun blasting through office walls to cause cancer :) heeheehee I’m gonna go sit in the sun!

  • tamisha – I hadn’t heard about any boycotting, but juices sold in stores are not raw. To get raw juice, you have to either get it fresh at a juice bar, or juice it yourself.

  • It’s interesting to me to read everyone’s comments/responses/experiences and realize that we are all different. I have type 1 diabetes and am not super active, and my blood sugar levels stay balanced the best when I eat whatever I want, as much as I…

  • I hear you on not wanting to keep track! I am happier and healthier when I do what bitt & sarabethxvx said – eat all raw when I am hungry, until I am full. I like to have salad dressings, seed cheese(s) & desserts made ahead, and I often cut…

  • Dried fruits are generally not raw, & for me, any non-raw food fuels an addiction for more cooked food. But mangoes, dates, bananas, apples, oranges, pineapple…Yum! I have had type 1 diabetes, and I have been eating high raw for 3 years. My bloo…
  • Thanks! I can’t see people here (Utah) paying $25 for anything like that, but I may be underestimating my neighbors… :) It sounds fun!
  • Yeah, I want to know about the cost part of it, too – I know people who might come to something, but I have no idea how to charge for it or if they would come if they had to pay!
  • Wow! I did 3/4 of one day of a juice feast – I got really hungry & ate dinner – and I think I’d love to JF for a month or more, if the produce wasn’t so expensive! I’ll have to save up for it or plan next year’s garden around juice feasting – to…
  • Someone who has been raw for a long time has usually been successful because she did her own thing :)
  • Also, a lot of nuts that are labeled & sold as raw are really not raw, because they have been heated somewhere – dried at high temps, steamed so they’ll come out of the shell nicely, etc. I feel I digest the really raw nuts better: hazelnuts, wa…
  • I think you gave the answer in your post – The first week you ate raw with no guidelines – that has always worked for me to feel the best, & my weight has naturally stabilized, although I was eating for health & letting my excess everything …
  • Yay! I am wanting to go 100%, too. I have been limited by budget the last couple of months, but hopefully that will change as my garden gives me yummies in the next few weeks! I’m beginning to want to eat raw so much that the things that appeal to m…

  • Yeah, I just want to enjoy life & be happy, which I can do much easier by eating raw :)

  • It’s none of anyone’s business what I eat or don’t eat, and I think that may be one reason I don’t like to tell people I am a “raw foodist” or “vegetarian” or whatever, even if those words may describe the way I’m currently eating. I also believe th…

  • I understand more than you think! I have been thin MOST of my life (too thin at times), and only overweight for about three years, but I have gone through similar struggles – I want health… no I don’t; I want fries & donuts…no I want health, I t…

  • About five years ago, I went to raw food classes for probably a year with someone else, all the time saying I would NEVER eat this way, yet knowing in the back of my mind that it was something I would eventually need to do & that I just wasn’t r…

  • Chris – Thank you SOOOOOO much for posting this and reminding me of what raw really is about – it WAS so much simpler then, before I got sucked into all the fear and “scientific” reasons not to do 100% raw. You have reminded me of what got me going …

  • I went to see my doc the other day, and when he asked me about what I had been doing to get my blood sugars down, I told him that I have found that if I eat only when my body really wants something, I do really well. The dietician had told me a coup…
  • It depends who wrote the recipe – you would have to ask the person. If you want really raw oats, you can order oats for sprouting from www.sunorganic.com – oat groats aren’t really raw, even though they’re labeled that way. One of those things I did…
  • Woohoo! Awesome :) We have blackberry bushes hanging over the fence from the neighbor’s yard, and I just found out about a fresh produce coop that someone started in my area, although it’s not local & probably not organic, either – at least it’l…
  • lizzyrose71 – I’ve heard the fruit/veggie no combo thing, too, but then I’ve heard that chimpanzees eat fruit & greens together…Whatever, I read “Raw Family” by Victoria Boutenko, and she said they allowed themselves ANY AMOUNTS AND COMBINATIONS…

  • I eat a raw food diet because it makes me feel great – no matter what I eat with what, my health, mood & energy levels have improved significantly from eating raw.

  • Wow! Great idea – and welcome! I like how it seems easier for you because you’ve already eliminated EVERYTHING, and you can now add lots of things :)
  • Young coconuts have soft “meat” that can be scooped out with a spoon, instead of hard like a mature coconut. The flavor is different, too, but mainly it’s the softness of the coconut meat.
