  • Can you take a raw halvah recipe and add essential oil of peppermint? I don't know if that's what everyone means by peppermint essence. I think essential oils are raw.

  • Imagine the healthy tissue in your lungs just shriveling up and dying, or becoming cancerous. You can do it!

  • Yeah, unfortunately. You can hear it in his voice. Dodo, my daughter is one of the healthiest cooked food eaters I know… and has been since her mid teens. She is now 28 and struggled for over a decade with a cigarette addiction. Funny thing is she o…

  • marionvalleygirl, what happened? Did you fast? In answer to your question, the Master Clenase is healthy up to 40 days. I have never had any problems with it (though you should have ready access to a bathroom) and I’ve done 10 days or over at least …

  • Maybe it’s too late. But I would do the Master Cleanse instead. You will still have energy and is a gentler than a water fast. Ideally, though, you should go 10 days. I am currently on day 13. Ingredients aren’t raw, however, because of the maple sy…

  • I used to have one of those coffee mug warmers at my dek. I put Thai Coconut Soup in it. You have to keep stirring it, though (like every minute or so), and watch carefully. because they can get pretty hot. Maybe try a baby formula warmer since it w…
  • 1. Tomatoes, bananas, baby greens, nori 2. Nachos with flaxseed crackers, cheddar sauce, salsa, spicy walnut taco meat, and lots of guacamole (generally more fat than I like to consume at one meal!) 3. salad greens, cucumbers, lemons, jalapenos, car…
  • What's the blue green algae do for your mom's patients, RawKidChef? I'm self-employed so I no longer get the office comments. But when I WAS in an office I generated a fair amount of interest from the people who worked there. The comments were alway…

  • Oh, also a great sweet treat that will have everyone in your house salivating and takes 10 minutes to make is a raw pie. Process an equal amount of dates and almonds or walnuts. Add cinnamon and a little salt it you like. Press onto a plate. Blend s…

  • J, don’t worry about a slip-up, like many have already said. I have been raw for 2 years, with a huge break in-between the first and second year. The only thing that has kept me going this 2nd year is being more forgiving of myself than I was the fi…

  • Excalibur is the dehydrator most raw foodists use. It comes in 4, 5 and 9 tray models and is available online. I purchased all of mine from rawguru.com. Don’t bother with the 4 tray unless you are really space constained because it has only half the…

  • I like to make a carrot bread similar to the recipe on this site using dates. However, I use only 1/4 cup of flax, ground, rather than 1 cup. I have also left out the flax and its fine. Also, I posted a thumbprint cookie recipe that’s delicious.
  • I like spinach, celery, parsley, carrot and ginger. You could try leaving out the carrot.
  • There are no longer restrictions on taking water on planes. You must buy it on the other side of security, however. Yes, you can carry a cucumber, whole or otherwise, on board.

  • For anyone else who may have this same question, I got the answer. There are currently no restrictions on bringing US grown avocados or any type of bananas in to PR. I am going on a cruise that originates in PR and will need to supplement the food a…

  • Hey Hollie! I like having this sandwich as a staple because I can easily use all of the other ingredients. The bread is super versatile, as mentioned. But so are the other ingredients. For example, the “cheese” can be used for tacos, lasagne, dip, c…

  • I always read these kid-oriented posts… not sure why because I don’t have young kids… LOL. Anyway, Alicia and Ale, I have been trying for some time to come up with a veggie sandwich that travels well for lunches and outings. I think I finally cracke…

  • I like the Better Than Onion Bread recipe using sweet onion and an apple instead of zucchini. Sweet onions don’t have a strong taste particularly when they are pulped in the food processor. Also, I think you could substitute zucchini for onions so t…
  • Also, you might try VERY lightly oiling the blades and the sides of the blender with a paper towel before you add your ingredients.
  • I always double my lemon cookie recipe (which is only slightly different from Kandace’s) and freeze them for longer-term storage. I usually half recipes, so if I make a full batch, that’s a lot for me. I typically do a full batch of Spicy Walnut Tac…
  • Isn’t that just the sell-by date? It is vacuum sealed, but once you open it and expose it to air, I would think it would start to turn rancid in a few months… or less.
  • Well, here’s the report: Not sure how I got this wrong, but the chef isn’t actually a chef, rather he manages the restaurant and is a big foodie. So I had these cucucumber roll-up things (spicy mock tuna, pickle and sun-dried black olive rolled in p…
  • I think I have my menu. Thanks everyone. Stibizi, I like gazpacho… but never liked it as a child, mostly because I loved warm tomato soup so much. But it sure sounds good. I’m going to go with the Thai soup and call it Mexican Coconut Soup. ;o) 123,…
  • Oh, and Madness, I have the same problem with soup recipes… although I like other people’s. But try my Thai Coconut Soup. It is super delicious. I either let it warm in my blender, or I make it with warm water. Another idea is to heat it in the dehy…
  • Thanks for all the ideas. Madness, I love Pure’s ravioli and have the pumpkin version every time I’m in NYC. Maybe I’ll get another go at the chef without the kids. I am very inspired to inspire the chef since I am hoping that he will prepare a raw …
  • When I first met Alissa Cohen 4 years ago, she had been raw for about 12 years, though I believe with some lapses. While she does use some ingredients that are not “certified” raw and would not forego a raw potluck (where you can be assured every in…

  • Mopoke, I find that if I take my Tribest personal blender and make smoothies, I feel pampered and well-hydrated on the road and it’s easier for me to maintain the glow. Sometimes just the act of trying to prepare food in a hotel room with no kitchen…

  • I may have posted that, jenoz. I buy my almonds from Almonds-from-California.com. The more you buy, the cheaper they are. I buy 10 pounds for $60.
