  • Tea warms, comforts, and calms me. It is something I probably won’t give up. I like a good black tea, as well as green tea and jasmine tea. mmmmm…
  • I am so very happy to learn that I’m not the only one! My family thinks I am so strange because I find trees so comforting, as shane said “In some of the darkest, worst times in my life, being near, under, around trees has saved me…Trees are very he…
  • Oh my goodness, these are the funniest stories ever! I read them with my daughter and we both had tears streaming down our faces. Thank you!!
  • Hello! I’m no expert, but I have read a lot of information from a couple of doctors who promote low-fat vegan diets to help decrease symptoms of bursitis/arthritis, and particularly avoiding dairy products seems to make a big difference in their exp…
  • Hot showers wash away so much, emotionally speaking, because they are so very soothing and comforting to me. Walking helps me de-fuse anger/frustration. Talking to a trusted friend (or sister) helps. I still slip sometimes because I have used/abused…
  • Greens and fruit make up most of my diet. Simple, clean, yummy, and just what my body needs right now.
  • Legs-up-the-wall is my favorite! So restorative and healing! Also, attitude is so important. I have followed the lead of my big sister (she is 9 years older than I) in approaching aging with wonder and gratitude. She has taught me to look at myself …
  • Hi, Alix! I am 46 and had a hysterectomy at age 35. Since I got to keep my ovaries, I have not yet gone through menopause (hormonally anyway). I do wish I had information to share with you regarding menopause and related symptoms; however, I did wan…
  • I am Christian and mostly raw… moving toward 100% at my own pace.
  • Sweet Tomatoes (aka Souplantation)! They have the biggest salad bar I have ever seen and everything is very fresh and beautiful. I also enjoy Thai restaurants although, as germin8 pointed out, the wraps and salads aren’t completely raw…but so yummy!
  • Medical Transcriptionist specializing in diagnostic imaging reports.
  • Below is a web site, written by a veterinarian, outlining some of the reasons that a vegan diet may not be suitable for dogs and cats. While I am convinced that you, rawuniverse2, have only the very best intentions, and while I don’t agree with ever…
  • Portland restaurants: Blossoming Lotus is very good! Nutshell (3808 N Williams) is a vegan restaurant and serves a raw lasagna that is very nice. It has balsamic vinegar on it so I’m not sure that it is 100% raw (I’m still confused about all of the …
  • Hi sunrise! I have been raw since August 2007, although never 100% (close, probably 90% or more, but never 100%). I have lost weight; 15 pounds during the first 30 days and more since then, although I don’t own a scale so I’m not sure how much. I am…
  • Number one is my high-speed blender. I use it every day. Second would be the food processor, third is the juicer (it’s a basic juiceman), and last but not least is my dehydrator. I suspect the dehydrator will see more use during the summer and fall …
  • Bluedolfin – You are sooo funny! I do the notebook thing, too, and I love those post-it flags. I have them all over my books – all of my books, not just recipe books. These ideas are great! Raw-Chocoholic – The only idea I would add (to save paper, …

  • This is a great topic, and a very timely one. My thoughts and feelings resonate with so many of you. I have been eating a high percentage of raw for only a very short time and have gone through all kinds of changes in the way I eat (more recipes, no…
  • Bluedolfin ~ Well…maybe. My daughter is open to trying most things, it’s our husbands that turn things down when it comes to unfamiliar food. My husband will try the sweet treats and smoothies, but that’s about it. Perhaps we’ll just have to spend s…
  • Thank you omshanti! We’ll definitely have to check out The Greenery!
  • Hey Bluedolfin—Thanks for the positive review of Cilantro LIVE in San Diego. We (my husband and I) will be going there next month to see our grandchildren (and my daughter and son-in-love, of course). It will be nice to have a place to take everyone…
  • Yep, it’s the mandarins that get me this time of year. Boxes and boxes of ‘em! YUM!

  • I have not seen the weight melting off, as I had read from so many others. I do, however, feel much better and I suppose the weight will come off eventually just because I’m eating better. veganpunk and JoyceH: I also recently got the MC book and ha…

  • Hi Pam! I happen to own a Nesco dehydrator because it was the most affordable way to get started on my raw adventure. The tray depth is one-half inch (I just measured it to be sure). Perhaps not tall enough for stuffed mushrooms. :-(

  • Thank you, Stefunk! I was not familiar with oil pulling so I had to do a little research. I love the idea of using coconut oil—it smells so good! Your help is truly appreciated by this newbie.

  • This was the first raw recipe book I purchased. I have made a lot of the recipes from this book and they have all been very good. A couple were a little too salty for my taste, but I adjusted for that the next time I made them and they were great. T…
