  • i was thinking of getting a shower filter, but then i thought maybe not a good idea because i travel a lot, and so maybe my skin will get adjusted to the ultra-clean water and react badly to water in other places. thoughts?

  • 200-600 calories a day is definitely not enough…this would definitely make you hungry and have problems with overeating and undereating in a cycle. try to take care of meeting your caloric needs in a day!

  • shgadwa…how is this relevant to raw food? there are plenty of internet forums designed specifically for religious debate. i think that would be a more appropriate place for a topic like this, so i won’t bother to post an argumentative response.
  • i do, i’m not proud of it, and admit it’s quite a hypocrisy on my part. i have yet to find nice vegan heels, anybody know of a source?

  • aaaaha…nyccgrrl, good one, very good.
  • I would agree with silent_advocate to an extent, our bodies do have cravings for a reason. However, it’s important to differentiate between cravings that come from a real physical need, and those that come from deep-seated psychological “addictions”…
  • it’s not raw, but relative to other breads, it is very very healthy. i still eat manna bread and the yeast free ezekiel bread (both in moderation), with no bad reactions so far!
  • i agree with anngoingraw. i eat cooked local starchy veggies in soups and so forth in the winter. i find i spend a whole less money and eat so much more local when i eat according to season. it’s all personal though, just depends where your prioriti…
  • its good for running because that watery gel that forms when you soak chia seeds is responsible for making chia a very slow releasing source of energy, so it keeps you sustained for long periods of time (theoretically i suppose). also, its very nutr…
  • i think it’s worth it to get some injections in order to get necessary dental work done…but in the future, take super good care for your teeth to at least prolong the time between dental visits!
  • dreasraw, actually yes. i don’t mean to brag, this was caused less by my personal persuasiveness and more by the effects of the way of eating perceived by other people, but my whole family has become mostly vegetarian, whole family is eating more ra…
  • I’ve been very lucky to have friends that have only teased me lightly about it in the beginning, but are actually quite supportive now. It always helps to visit a vegan/raw restaurant and get immersed on the atmopshere!
  • To keep from yoyo dieting and being obsessive about my eating, I include a whole foods, low glucose load, gluten free cooked vegan meal on most days of the week. I was 100% raw for a year, and while that may work fine for some people, it made my blo…

  • I honestly wouldn’t rule this out as conspiracy or something, its very important to pay attention to deficiencies.
  • I’m about 80% raw, and I don’t eat a lot of sweet fruit, I find it spikes my blood sugar and just leaves me craving more sugar and makes me hungry all the time. Try going without sweet fruit (or at least a lot less) for at least a week, and see how …

  • i don’t know about your hair, but mine is longer than waist length and wavy, i could never imagine going longer than 2 days without washing it with shampoo! i can’t imagine getting through all that hair with just water.
  • omega 6s are not an issue for most raw foodists. they are in avocado, nuts, seeds, etc. omega 3s are harder to isolate, i use a vegetarian EFA supplement (flax oil and others)
  • waterbaby, wearing clothing public??? i hear MSM helps with removing and/or preventing scars.

  • lalalizoo, on the average day i’ll start out with a BIG glass of water with lemon. then i’ll have a green smoothie with fresh greens, berries, sunfood powder, hemp seeds, coconut oil, and a vegetarian EFA blend. i’ll have either some fruit (not bana…
  • Well said Angie. Something that cannot be discounted is one’s genetic composition, which probably plays a big role in how we react to different ways of eating. Tamisha, I know you didn’t say I was bashing fruit or anything, I was more referring to o…
  • Woah, harsh! I’ll explain myself then. I do not “bash fruit”, nor do I believe one should “avoid fruit” or “remove fruit from the raw diet.” I agree that fruit is extremely healthy, designed for humans to eat, and has enormous health benefits. And o…
  • Just wanted to chime in that eating bananas when you have diabetes is probably not such a good idea to to their rather significant effect on blood sugar levels…My advice would be to watch the GL (glucose load) of your food very carefully, try to avo…
  • i wish i could tell you, i never know what people mean when they give percentages. do they mean by weight? calories? meals?? looks like you’re doing great though. i have a daikon recipe i rather like on here that takes like 5 minutes and is really g…

  • Although I agree with many things Zoe says, the truth is, Dr. Kouchakoff’s experimental results have never been confirmed in a double-blind or even a blind study, and has been criticized by scientists. Just another perspective.
  • I would say that I never avoid social situations regardless of the amount of junk-food involved. Although my friends too love to go out and eat junk, or go to someone’s house and eat junk, or watch a game and eat junk, and so forth, I love to just b…
