  • I second MOTH. I didn’t have a “problem” with anything in my stomach before I went raw. But your stomach becomes more sensitive as you go on. I recently stopped eating lara bars, which I wanted to do anyway since they aren’t really raw and are proce…
  • Oh yeah! And I start out with her green lemonade every morning.
  • I do have trouble with nuts and dates as in lara bars. I would say that food combining probably affects you more as you get more and more raw. That’s what’s happened to me anyway. Your stomach just gets more sensitive. So I think it just depends. I …
  • My favorite: 2 super ripe organic bananas, 1 cup frozen organic strawberries, 6 large leaves of organic romaine and either 2 big leaves of organic kale or a big handful of organic spinach. So good!
  • Many raw foodists I have read seem to suggest that eating 75% raw will go a long way, so I am guessing that less that isn’t “ideal” and more than that is even better.
  • That’s a big question to respond to! I would really go through this site and look through different posts. You can do a search for a specific term or food in the forums section. It seems to me that everyone has a different approach to raw, but that’…
  • I would call the restaurant and tell them about your dietary needs and ask if they could prepare something special for you—most really nice restaurants are accommodating that way. To make your bf feel like you are taking part in the evening, maybe y…
  • Thanks! This is all really helpful.

  • Interesting. Is it palatable? Does it taste at all like honey?

  • It sounds like you are craving fat so I would recommend eating an avocado in some form—make guacamole or just eat it sliced with some tomatoes, in a salad. If you were craving sweet things, I would say definitely you should have a green smoothie. I …
  • Hi again northernlights—just wanted to let you know you make total sense. I’ve only been 75-80% raw for about three months and I feel great. At the beginning though, I made myself crazy by trying to eat 100% and punishing myself if I didn’t and that…
  • I think you are being too hard on yourself. Transitioning to raw is a process and sometimes going too fast can make you feel frustrated if you don’t “stick to it,” but that’s not what it’s about. I think that there is no goal except to just be doing…
  • I definitely feel totally different and I would say amazing since I started my raw food journey about 3 months ago. I would say I’m 75-80% on a given day and I feel like so much of me has been affected: great sleep, no more dry scalp, no more moodin…
  • I eat two bananas a day, blended into my green smoothie, and love them. It’s too bad they are hybridized—I would love to live somewhere where I could eat wild bananas. But at least they are not anywhere as evil as non-raw foods!
  • I love mine! 1 cup water, two very ripe organic bananas, 1 cup frozen organic strawberries, 6 big leaves of organic romanine, and either 1 big handful of organic spinach or two or three large kale leaves.
  • try green lemonade—Juice 1 head of organic romaine, 1 bunch organic kale, 1 organic lemon (with peel), 1 organic fuji apple, an inch of organic ginger. Great way to get greens—very tasty! and you can totally do a green smoothie—mine doesn’t taste li…
  • That’s horrible! Even if those are raw, I wouldn’t eat them. Good to know! I will look carefully:)

  • Thanks so much! I will just buy them in the shell. I’m so excited!!

  • Lovingraw—I totally hear you on supplementing Natalia’s suggestions. I do her green lemonade in the a.m., but then I eat some cantaloupe followed by a green smoothie. And then add some fats in in the afternoon. It’s definitely all about what works b…
  • I think lemon water and green juice is a great way to start the day—we drink Natalia Rose’s green lemonade in the a.m. It’s a good detox for your system.
  • I totally second the green smoothies. If you are serious about kicking the habit, I would have two green smoothies a day. Or at least a green juice and a green smoothie a day.

  • absolutely! also i work in an office and i usually just put on my scarf when i’m drinking my smoothie. i mean all of the blood rushes to your stomach when you eat anyway so if you eat something cold i think it’s worse. anyway my feeling is green smo…
  • My wife takes hers out of the fridge and lets it “warm up” a bit before drinking. According to Boutenko, a green smoothie can last up to 3 days in the fridge.
  • natalia rose talks about how she boosted her milk production by eating two pounds of green a day—one pound steamed and the other via juice or green smoothies. greens are all you need for calcium. also zinc is really important—i think she suggests pe…

  • I walk to work through Central park every weekday morning, a three-mile walk. I am excited for daylight savings time to kick in so that I can walk home too. I used to be a big runner—I do love to run. But transitioning to raw has made me feel more a…
  • They definitely do! I have seen many hard core raw foodists discuss using them without hesitation. Especially when you can’t get their fresh counterparts or it’s simply too expensive. Obviously the preference is to buy organic of course. And to make…

  • I have been eating maybe 80-90% raw a day for the past two months and just had my period with practically no cramps. Pretty amazing.
  • Wow. Well that’s definitely the effect it’s had on me—a total laxative. Thanks for posting!
