  • I was going to say what germin8 said, haha. I LOVE jalapenoes! But I’m a freak for hot, spicy things, even halbaneroes ;) I eat them right from the bush. Also, one time my aunt and I soaked some sliced ones in lemon and lime juice and ate them that …
  • Wow! That’s great! I can’t wait until I get to that point – I still love spicy beans and rice.
  • marienord, This is how I’m doing this too! And I was having the same feelings as you, that I was ruining all that I was doing during the day. I’m glad that you posted this because it makes me see that I’m not alone in the slow transition
  • Weazelchef, Those enchiladas look delicious! What recipe did you use?
  • I have a blog, but it’s not all raw related. I write about gardening, sewing, my pets and family – everything. So, it’s really not that inspirational, heh. I have been trying to write about foods and recipes that I am trying though as I’m new to try…
  • CTcyclist, You could probably take raw corn and dehydrate the kernals, then grind them to make your own raw corn meal. =)
  • I’ve been brainstorming on ways to substitute items I love while transitioning. And my dehydrator comes in next week, so I’m getting all sorts of ideas!! Oh, I’m glad that you think it can be done =D I cannot wait to try!!

  • Oh, I’d love to hear how it works if you try it too! I’m not fully raw, still transitioning, but this would make things even more wonderful!!

  • Oh wow! This is fabulous – congratulations!!!! I would love to see photos as well, once you are further along. I’d be interested in ordering too!
  • I don’t think there’s a worry about kitty being affected. I had read that the poison in roach motels is just inside, and shouldn’t come from inside to out. At least, that’s what I read. I don’t know if borax is illegal or not. Hrmm, good question. I…

  • I know moth balls repel most critters of that type. But they contain pesticides I think. Cedar balls or planks (like the kind in closets) are also supposed to work. I hope that helps. I also found these : http://eartheasy.com/live_natpest_control.ht…

  • Oh wow, thanks for all of this. I was under the misconception that green smoothies were made with all greens, so this clears up a ton for me. I just got “Green for Life”, so maybe some of that will also guide me along. I usually throw in some romain…
  • CTcyclist, Almost all frozen vegetables in the store are blanched in boiling water before they are frozen, and it kills off the enzymes. =( I’m glad this topic was brought up because I’ve seen lots of recipes with nutritional yeast and Braggs, and I…

  • What an inspiration =) I’m trying to transition into raw, and reading this makes me want to go further! Congratulations
  • Oh wow, you guys rock! There are so many good tips and advice here, and book suggestions to boot! I truly appreciate all of the help that you are providing, and the inspiration. I believe today, I am going to begin incorporating raw into my life. Cr…
  • Thank you both very much for the suggestions. The slow transition seems like a good idea, that’s reasonable. I’ve read a few things that said to just go all the way at once. I figure if I’m still cooking for my husband, I’ll just cook him all the th…
  • I’ve always had to basically “shave” it out. I have a very sharp curved blade that I use to shave & chunk it out. Rough and not so pretty but it worked. I’ve also seen people literally use a chisel and mallet.

  • I tried the “Fried” Mushrooms and YUM!! But then I got a wild hair and marinated more mushrooms, and made a batter from soaked flax seeds and some of my dried herbs, blended it. I coated the mushrooms in the “batter” and dehydrated them at 95 until …
  • kandace, Thank you!!
  • Young@Heart, Where can I find that “fried” mushrooms recipe? I think that would be awesome, and those are the types of things I still eat while in this transition. Bad I know, but it’s one of my favorite things!
  • Right now I use Burt’s Bees products, a tinted moisturizer and such. Jenny, I think I still have that need to look flawless. Plus, I’ve always worn a really madeup face. I don’t wear it when I’m at home or anything, but when I go out the house, I li…
  • This is so fascinating! I have been using natural products for a while now. And I am just beginning my journey with raw. I would have never thought about never having to use shampoo or deoderant. I use deoderant with a cotton right now, just because…
  • I haven’t gone there, but I was checking out the site online too. I was wondering the same, whether they had more than salads and smoothies?
  • Oh wow! I just moved up to the metro Denver area from New Orleans last year! Thanks for posting this =D
  • I live near Denver, Colorado. We moved up here about a year ago from New Orleans, Louisiana. There are quite few vegetarian and vegan restaurants, and I have recently come across raw meetings in the nearby area. I also stumbled across a website for…
  • I love to garden. I’ve done container gardening the most since I lived in a condo for a while. Now, we’ve moved to Colorado from New Orleans – completely different gardening here! I’m growing corn, tomatoes (I do cherry tomatoes in a pot all year lo…
  • Oh, figs right off of the tree! And Japanese plums too!
  • joseegonthier I’ve had chayote back home; it grew like weeds. We called it mirliton though. Unfortunately, though I’ve only had it cooked. I’m tempted to try it raw the next time that I go home. I remember it leaving a strange coating on my hands wh…
