  • Dodo, Weleda really doesn’t foam. It’s completely unlike traditional toothpaste, including the so called “healthy” ones like Tom’s and Jason’s (BTW, both of these contain lauryl sulfate).

  • dodo, I’ve been very happy with the Weleda toothpastes. There is absolutely no crap in it. My favorite is the one with salt, but they have plenty of others. I believe that both brushing and flossing are important. Good oral hygiene will save you lot…

  • brighteyes, I live in NYC and buy nutritional yeast at Whole Foods. Not sure if you realize it’s not raw. I eat it anyway as it livens up my salads and some otherwise raw dishes.

  • Zoe, it’s more like a “flyable” distance. It would probably take you about a day to drive up there. If you want to see more of the States, though, it might be a very enjoyable trip.
  • angie, I was going to mention Costco earlier. This w/e we bought 5 giant non organic avocados for $6, a giant vat of organic lettuce for $6 and a massive bag of organic baby carrots for around the same price (couldn’t find the big carrots). They als…

  • Have you been to a gynecologist? It sounds like you may have some kind of infection, I would see the doctor first to see if you could rule that out.
  • Kevlar, when you referred to “missing links” I thought you were talking about Bush and Cheney!

  • This is stunning. I also really like the composition of the picture.

  • greenghost, Sarah Palin has that same expression on her face during interviews. Thanks for ruining my day! :)
  • simplyraw, I loved Echo and the Bunnymen. I also liked Ian McCollough’s solo album “Candleland.” That link you gave is AMAZING…thanks! BTW, does anyone remember the Housemartins?
  • simplyraw, I love “Love Reign O’er Me.” Thanks for the link! BTW, forgot to mention Morrissey and The Smiths. What can I say? I’m a melodramatic sad sack.
  • O.K., the soundtrack of my life would definitely include these artists: Robyn Hitchcock Nick Drake Neil Young The Walkmen Belle and Sebastian The Jam Paul Weller The Kinks There are many others that I love, but might not put on a desert island disc.…
  • I really second what TJAB said. I think getting help right now is your number 1 priority. You are going through a highly stressful time and need support. As they say, “one step at a time.” A good therapist or counselor can help you get to the core o…
  • bronwyn, that’s without the magic “green bags” to preserve it! HORRIFIYING!!!!! I’ll stick with kale:)
  • TJAB, thanks! I was totally unaware of the add-on.

  • I have to agree, TJAB, Firefox is the way to go. I also keep IE on the computer, as some sites don’t seem to accept Firefox. However, Firefox is my first preference.

  • You’re welcome, lzhpt. I felt the same way when I watched it.
  • I ate them for a while after becoming raw, but was never crazy about them. They look ugly, they’re too heavy and far too sweet. I could get past the ugly bit if they tasted great, but they kinda make me sick! You are not alone, Branwyn.
  • Interesting. I’ll give it another shot. Thanks!

  • Kevlar, when I soaked garbanzos (for 48 hours!),they never got really soft. Have you found the same thing, or do you do anything else to make them soften? I like your idea of garbanzos, salt and olive oil.

  • I’m sorry if I sound ignorant here; I’m not a parent and have never breast fed. Wouldn’t a child be exposed to the mother’s “toxins” in utero? Or do the toxins suddenly “change” when breast feeding? Doesn’t make sense to me. TomsMom DOES make lots o…
  • omshanti, you bring up a very important point. The debates are like a rorshach blot; each person sees it differently. You think you’re seeing 1 thing and the other person sees something completely different. In other words, it’s totally subjective. …
  • aspire, let’s say our statements complemented each other! I think you are pretty darn clear. RCBAlive, didn’t he mention Miss Congeniality a couple of times? Perhaps he did mean “Miss Convenientality”, his “add some water and you got a female VP” ru…
  • Aspire, I absolutely agree with your assessment of the debate. What also was painfully apparent is that age actually does matter in this situation. You can’t have a 20th Century man doing a 21st Century job. And those “folksy” tricks that McCain was…
  • You’re welcome greenghost and winona. For 8 years I feel like we’ve been living in Bizarro world, where everything is opposite of what it’s supposed to be. The Bush administration is the worst one in this country’s history, and to be presented with …
  • Joyce, I’d also like to add something that I read in the NY Times today. When Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasila, she approved legislation requiring rape victims to buy their own rape kits so it wouldn’t be at the expense of local government or tax pay…
  • No one has mentioned the very frightening prospect of either John McCain or Sarah Palin appointing members to the Supreme Court. We are literally fighting for our lives here.
  • Thank you, Kandace. I appreciate all you are doing and know it’s not a fun task.
  • Slosh-uh, first of all, I’m so sorry you’re going through this, but am happy you reached out for help. I may get sh-t for saying this, but forget detox. I would never offer an opinion or “diagnosis”, but really recommend that you find a good therapi…
