  • robin – it looks to me like they ARE dehydrated. what website was selling them fresh? “Tarazi Garbanzo Beans are pale yellow in color, are sold dehydrated, and shipped in a fifty five pound bag.” http://www.tarazifoods.com/store/home.php?cat=254
  • I’m going to fax them.

  • RawKidChef – Do you have any evidence to back up your statements? ‘Nuts and grains are bad’ doesn’t provide concrete information, and isn’t terribly useful.
  • I bought some raw oat groats from my local farm supply/feed store. They sell feed for horses. My oats were raw, they sprouted. Only $2 for 5lbs of oats! like angie, i love to use sprouted buckwheat in raw cereals! it makes yummy granola – lots of gr…
  • It’s best to soak your grains and have them sprout a little. This way, the enzyme inhibitors are reduced – so you can actually digest them. Buckwheat are seeds, by the way, not grains.
  • brawyn – i used to live in Atlanta. I tried HARD to make it work but i hated it with a passion. if you’re moving, think about living in Ithaca, NY. You’ll be 4 hours from NYC and Montreal, in case you need the city. But you’ll enjoy the woods in a p…
  • heyenglish – i really don’t recommend brushing your teeth with baking soda – it can be very abrasive and harmful, long term – on your gums and teeth. i don’t recommend using only water, as that doesn’t disinfect and sets you up for gum disease and c…

  • well ya’ll, i HATED cooking. Just to add my little opinion. Even when I made something good, it made the kitchen hot and sweaty from the oven, it took SO LOOOOOOOONG waiting for the oven, etc. I hate the idea of marriage and cooking for anyone and c…
  • pundee – what did you eat as SAD? I just don’t see how it was faster. Unless you bought ready made stuff. I typically ate food made from scratch, so it involved all that chopping and peeling produce, but then i had to take 1/2 hour to cook it too!
  • rawflower you’re not alone! there’s no way i’d survive on 2 pieces of fruit and salad. Today I had a cantaloupe, 6 peaches, 2 tomatoes (in tabouli), 4 carrots, 1 1/2 cups cashews, 1/2 a watermelon, 1 head greens, 2 Tbsp dressing, 1/2 head of celery …
  • If I buy any more expensive raw appliances/gadgets/gear, I’ll need to take out a second mortgage on my bike. :) I’ll let you all enjoy the rebounders, and for now i’ll jump rope.
  • I didn’t know that hulled sesame seeds are raw. Thanks for the information. I’m remembering that unhulled sesame seeds have more nutritional value, is that correct?

  • Chicory – Eating fruit is my favorite go-to food. It’s my breakfast, all my snacks, sometimes lunch. But it really leaves me hungry right away too! That must be why I am eating so much bulk.. my fruit-only meals are digested within 30 minutes. TomsM…

  • Try to figure out what you’re craving. Sweet, salty, crunchy, fat, chunky, smoothy, chilled, savory? What do you really want? Then just find a raw snack that satisfies it!
  • springleaf – good question! it’s amazing how well things have worked out to accommodate my raw lifestyle. I live alone, so my kitchen only contains raw food. I prepare all food at home and eat alone. As it so happens, all of my friends are part of a…
  • Don’t worry guys! For me, it only took six months of eating high raw ~95% (except spices, agave, nama shoyu type things) to get rid of all cooked cravings! In fact, at three months I didn’t even think about cooked food. I know that for everyone it’s…

  • bronwyn – I read that you miss eating crackers. I order DELISH ones from http://www.livinspoonful.com/shop.html If you don’t have a dehydrator, I think you should make your burgers and eat them straight. Many of them are very yummy as pates, no need…
  • Rice isn’t raw. But you can possibly order wild rice online, that’s supposed to be raw. You’re going to want to soak it/sprout it for a few days. Don’t eat it dry – that’s not good!
