  • acorn is ok – i make ‘rice’ or ‘risotto’ with it.
  • honestly, i just do a quick guacamole with veggies. or a raw berry pie, slightly frozen. for example: grind cashews, add agave , that’s the crust. blend strawberries and cashews, thats the filling. put crust in pie pan, put in filling. freeze for an…

  • thanks for the videos, aspire. This world is like V for Vendetta or Orwell’s 1984… it’s becoming more like that every day. Sue i’m terribly sorry to hear that! I can’t imagine how it feels to lose everything – that’s happening to so many people righ…
  • Things are bad around the world. http://news.bbc.co.uk/ I had no idea things would get this bad. sigh Tis scary. This is what happens when greedy, unscrupulous people run the world.
  • Naturally, I second what angie said – her and I have been talking a lot about this subject. I understand that you’re tired of this country – me too, I’m so frusterated I can’t begin to put it into words. I understand your challenges. I’ll throw some…

  • TomsMom – She certainly had gum disease due to not being able to brush around the braces. It wasn’t ‘something else’ – lack of brushing WILL cause periodontal disease. It affects you for life. She had to have another tooth pulled last week because o…

  • One thing to think about is … do we need to disinfect our teeth? Quite likely. I use dr. bronners. Put a couple drops of Dr. bronners into 1 Tbsp water, add a drop of lavender essential oil (optional, it’s good flavor) and dip your toothbrush in and…

  • What a lovely choice of dinner! Way to go – bringing raw to everyone’s dinner table. I bet that will help put a positive spin on raw. Good for you!!
  • haha kirsten, cats milk. I see milk the same way – it’s totally gross to me. If you get milk, at least get it from cows who are grass fed. I study animal health and nutrition, and purchasing products from factory farming should be avoided by everyon…
  • That may be the case, rawnora, but I’m of the opinion that any raw diet is better than a cooked diet. I drink raw wine, I eat fruits and vegetables and greens and nuts in whatever quantities I want. There are an infinite number of opinions, Wailingw…
  • jkd i feel the same as you do about factory farming! I love caring for animals, and to think that millions of them are abused to become food for folks who have plenty of veg to eat.. well that’s just sad. I feel really bad for the animals. The type …
  • Everyone’s cool Joyce. I’ll take this moment to stress that we’re all okay with folks eating whatever they like. It’s fine with me if people eat meat. However, we personally choose to not eat meat – we are not judging the choices of others.
  • the bad girl! haha joyce! i feel lonely being vege sometimes too – but heck, i have a whole slew of nonconforming labels. i’m atheist, believe in living child-free marriage-free, very liberal, anti technology, feminist, raw vegan… It sure seems like…
  • I don’t know about the statement ‘most vegans don’t do alcohol’... most vegans i’ve known over the years definitely drink! I am BEEGAN! and proud of it. Meat cooking smells NASTY, I hate seeing people eat meat, and I especially hate being near piles…
  • cooked fats really gross me out. i could see myself eating cooked veg if i really had the craving, but wheat? NO cooked fat? NO WAY
  • Good point angie. We have to do what works for our own bodies. If at some point I feel that cooked starches worked for my body, I will eat them.
  • ras – i agree, the taste of conventional is what really kept me eating organic. I’m lucky to have access to lovely organic food. It sure is tasty!
  • Hi berryraw! A member of goneraw, who was recently featured on 20/20, may have some helpful information on his website. His videos related to raw food are available here: http://www.finddesirenotdemise.com/content/inde… He said that raw helped him t…
  • ditto what izhpt said – i simply don’t buy that one diet is for everyone. nice try.
  • Bummer! You can try making apple pie instead, using the cinnamon and coconut oil maybe? Or a recipe from this site? And dehydrate to warm it up.
  • Well, that explains it – I’m paying $2 PER PIECE OF FRUIT or $4 per pound and some folks are paying $1 per pound. Plus your CSA provides you with enough produce – i’m part of one, but we don’t get NEARLY enough for the week.
  • The nuts cost VERY little.. i spend only $50 per month on not really raw nuts and seeds. littlegems is your produce organic? what is a typical day of food for you? ikn you said you spend $50 on the following produce? 8 ears of corn, 2 heads of cauli…
  • I’m posting my menu to better understand what you’re spending. Please give me feedback if you’re spending less than $800 per month for one person – how is your menu different from mine? How do you eat variety? Are you eating all organic? Do you have…
  • ikn – really? you spend $110-120 for a family of five? May I ask, how much produce do you get for $50? What do you eat in a typical day? How many calories do you eat?
  • Hi Caleb, I calculated my spending this past week. It was $185 for organic produce & some nuts – for one person. I spend around $800 per month. Some things to consider… are you buying organic? Organic is much more pricey. Every piece of produce …
  • Much luck! Take excellent care of yourself and eat plenty of produce and greens – you should build up your strength before the operation. Rest a LOT too.

  • meeghan – I think the important thing to remember is to relax, enjoy, try new recipes. Raw will come to you. It’s fun, it’s easy, many of us at goneraw enjoy it immensely. It’s less of a challenge than a simple change.
  • I transitioned slowly for 1 year, gradually eating more raw every few months. Then I took the plunge to all raw except condiments. That was six months ago, and it’s been super easy! I’m glad I took a year initially to transition. bluedolfin – good i…
