  • if i am not mistaken, cilantro removes heavy metals. i’m just repeating what i’ve seen posted here a few times. can anyone validate that?
  • i doubt you are eating the same amount of calories as before. take a HUGE bowl of spinach for ex (as big as four of your own heads). put it in a wok with some oil and lo and behold it is now the size of your palm. what happened? loss of water, loss …
  • i just wanted to say that for safety, you should start eating a little cooked food (steamed veggies for ex) until you quit. it is very dangerous to be making your body squeaky clean (think babies) with your diet, but polluting it with smoke & ch…

  • i didn’t mean to suggest raw fat was bad, just that sometimes i confuse fat cravings for green cravings. it’s easy to test that theory. if you crave fat and start eating greens and that does it, great. if you need fat, then you can still have it. =)
  • bitt that is so true. i had to watch a dad force feed a child a corn chip cuz she thought it was gross. i was like, “why start THAT addiction? that seems like a pretty good choice to me!” we know everything, take part in a huge forgetting, and have …
  • ardesmond & emmie21—here’s the plot (i get you ann!): ann has rediscovered the effect of food on her overall health. sometimes you need a little bad to realize what good is. get it? =) i’ve been doing the 811 thing for a week now and i think it’…
  • i personally feel that the whole medical and pharmaceutical industry is a tangled web we’ve woven, making ourselves sick from industrial pollution and poor nutrition, and convincing ourselves that the way out is through some third party potion… and …
  • why would you need to prep 2 days ahead of time? do you mean with dehydrator recipes? when i was making crackers or flatbreads, i made stuff after breakfast and it was ready by dinner. otherwise, raw is the easiest ever. no cooking, no pre-heating a…
  • if in doubt, eat A LOT more greens. but if it is worrying you, i’d seek out a GOOD naturopath. sometimes other people notice things in our behavior and diet that we don’t even think about cuz they seem so familiar…
  • i have no idea. when i wasn’t 100% i used “high raw.” there’s also, “some raw” and “a lot of raw.” =)
  • from wikipedia: “Balsamic vinegar is manufactured from the juice of white grapes (typically, trebbiano grapes) boiled down to approximately 50% of its original volume to create a concentrated must, which is then fermented with a slow aging process w…
  • bitt—i was not discouraging ANYONE. i was giving my personal opinion of them, since zoe brought it up. i would love to see some proof that supplements work. some believe they help. but i’ve also read things that actually prove they are somewhat harm…
  • kevyn—it only gets complicated when we try to follow people’s recipes that aren’t paying attention. anything you get in the produce section is raw. anything you pick or grow yourself is raw. there is a lot to choose from, especially with summer farm…
  • woohoo lambs quarter. still haven’t tasted that yet. i’ve heard rave reviews though. this just in: a town next to my parents’ town in france has given our composters to all its citizens for FREE. how cool is that? not quite zoe’s village, but gettin…

  • i agree. i think they are a great routine maintenance. they are pretty useless if go “retox” afterward, but on a raw diet they seem to be very helpful. everyone is different, but hopefully it should be less uncomfortable the next time, and you’ll be…
  • waterbaby—i signed it and sent out a bulletin on my myspace.
  • newbie: i think you would like this. fear is not necessary. =) part one part two the mayan calendar looks at 6.4 billion years… from the BIG BANG onward and explains how there are recognizable patterns in consciousness. this period we are in is typi…
  • they do not cost a buttload. but i like that expression. i got mine at wholesale-almonds.com for 10 lbs for $50. that’s cheaper than the pasteurized ones at the store. split them with some friends of freeze them! angie—when i bought mine they said t…

  • my cuisinart blender is great. not quite as powerful as a vitamix, but fine for my purposes (and budget). a food processor is not the same as it won’t be able to do anything past a certain “liquidity.” (i.e. no smoothies) i also like the fact that i…

  • you are definitely detoxing. keep it up… it’ll pass. the feeling of “illness” is when the “cleaning out” becomes uncomfortable. whenever you improve your diet you will be detoxing. it takes many forms.
  • hey there! thanks! also, i was just reminded by this documentary i watched (care of aspire :)) that it’s important not to keep calling them “corporations” but actual people who need to be held accountable, rather than granted the permission to hide …
  • amysue- i like that. =) i am also very “out” about being raw. it’s important for me to BE who i am rather than wear it.

  • also: a preventative measure: make sure to clean knobs and sides of drawers and cupboards regularly because if we aren’t washing our hands diligently some of the sugar from our food will invite them in.
  • my mom uses dr. bronner’s peppermint soap. works like magic. mix a little in a bowl with water. wet a towel and rub your surfaces with with. you can even squeeze a little of it into holes.
  • amsterdam is SUCH a cool place to live. what a great city! biking everywhere is my idea of paradise. but i’d be worried about flooding in the next coming years. it’s already way below sea level.
  • same here. i used to like rain and snow A LOT more. i still find them beautiful natural phenomena, but i don’t feel “at home” in them. i think because it used to give me an excuse to be introverted and reclusive… and i don’t really get that way anym…
