  • Hi Papa! This is a great place to get started. I have found a lot of good info here as well as a lot of tasty recipes! Good luck on your journey. I started mine in November and am still transitioning, as I wanted to use up my cooked food, but I keep…

  • I am right there with you HD! I too am trying to figure out the whole sprouting, not sprouting/soaking deal for nuts. I think I have a better handle on the seeds though. I just bought some unhulled sesame seeds at my local health food store and am g…
  • I have starting by having one cooked meal a day until I use up all my "SAD" food - which will more than likely be next month and then going completely raw until August. For me, mentally that works out. I don't have the mental freak out of having to …
  • That is good advice powerlifer, thank you so much for bringing this up. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago with two small goiter nodules. I am not being treated now as I don't have any thyroid problems -they put me on some meds in the beginning, but …
  • I would be happy to be a support partner, if you don't mind that I am transitioning into going completely raw. It would be nice to rally a few people up. My goal is to eat up all the SAD food I have by having one cooked meal at noon time and then ju…
  • Hi Calico. I am new to raw as well and looking for support too. I am glad I found this site. However, it seems to me that 4 years is a long time to try to go completely raw, so why not resign yourself to just one cooked vegan meal a day? You can alw…
  • No, but that sounds like fun! I know I need to treat myself to one after the New Year. I will be looking forward to what people have to say about them.
  • I heard about it about 2 years ago and it didn't really interest me as I was not even a vegan. However, I did start moving closer to reducing my meat intake with the craziness in the meat industry and learning more about what they do to the animals …
  • I take a sharp knife and hack away towards the top. The brown shell is a lot softer than a regular coconut. I drain and freeze the water for smoothie later, but love the creamy coconut and wish they produced more than the thin layer *pout*. Just wat…
  • Thanks Amm for clarifying that for me.
  • Good questions. I was wondering about the freeze dried food question too and after looking at a couple of websites, I've determined that some can be considered raw, but you have to find out how the food was processed first as some have been blanched…
  • This thread has been very interesting as I am new to raw and am wanting to make sure I getting a balanced diet and there is a lot of conflicting info, just like this thread demonstrates. I don't suffer from candidiasis, but I would like to comment o…
  • When I get the craving for something fried and salty, I try - optimal word - to have these kale chips on hand. They are really really good and the "cheesy" sauce make for a nice salad dressing as well. This is assuming you have a dehydrator.
  • I just planted my seeds yesterday. It rained today, so that is going to delay getting the garden dug up a little bit. Come on Spring!
  • OMG! Glad I checked too as I had bought a couple of them. I see that I can make them into taro chips, but I am going to cook them and make roasted tarro curry.
