  • I bet in your case it could be that you're not used to the amount of greens in your system. I definitely has a sort of sick feeling after the smoothies when I started them almost two months ago. That definitely has passed, so maybe those symptoms ar…
  • hi! what a funny coincidence, I just made HeathyPace (from Raw Freedom Community Forum)'s Pumpkin Pie Spice Bars with leftover carrot pulp from juicing, but my version ended up tasting like a rawvegan carrot cake. Here was my version: 3 c carrot pul…
  • Well, for my green smoothies, I've been experimenting with different combinations. Lately, I've been trying to stick to a food combining 'aesthetic' (ie acid fruits with acid fruits). According to food combining, you should never mix sweet fruits wi…
  • I posted a similar experience in another post, but when I started juicing a few weeks ago,I felt quite sick and 'spaced out'. I was advised to cut the juice in half with water. Since then, I've started doing green smoothies every morning, and am goi…
  • If I eat a lot of dates and/ or fruit (especially citrus fruits), I get little sores on my tongue. Does anyone else get this becuz of the acidity? I always take this as a sign that my body is too acidic/ out of balance.
  • Hi all, I find I can't eat too many dates. I get really light-headed from all of the sugar. Although, I really do love them, I just find I have to be careful not to eat too many in one sitting. Also, I find if I eat too much fruit in general (includ…
  • great! Thanks everyone - I just soaked some almonds last night, and chopped them in my mini chopper, using them as a topping for my breakfast. It certainly makes them easier to puree/blend/chop, and they taste fresher.
  • I think we are on to something here:-) haha I'm glad to know that I'm not alone! I'm going to try experimenting with different foods and juices and see whats what. I'm fairly sensitive when it comes to certain foods and such, so maybe it is a person…
  • Also, I thought I would mention: this feeling doesn't last like a sugar rush, it lasts for quite some time-more than a few hours. A very 'high' feeling, blissed out, spacey. I hope this question doesn't seem weird:-)
  • Branwyn, I'm the same as you: I had to have my gallbladder removed when I was 16 (about ten years ago) because of terrible gallstones and inflammation. I put up with the attacks for a year and a half (during which I tried cleanses to help), but I wa…
  • I think the general consensus is they are safe to eat, but you have to let them ripen, which takes longer than conventional bananas. Ideally, the skin on a plantain should be almost all black before eating.
  • I find plantains are delegated to the reduced produce shelf becuz of their unattractive skins. I say, go for the plantains whenever possible. I like them better than bananas now!
  • I am a fan of food combining, and I find that keeping acid fruits together and sub-acid fruits together in a smoothie usually works quite well for me. i was experiencing that bloating feeling when I started green smoothies, and I think it was due to…
  • Hi all, I just thought I would share the link to my new raw and living foods blogs. I just recently started it, so there are just a few posts, but I am hoping to catalogue all of my favorite raw recipes:-) Feel free to check it out! http://barefoota…
  • Great discussion here - I've just moved into a new apartment with a beautiful deck. Does anyone here have a deck garden, and if so, what would be the easiest things to grow? I've heard cherry tomatoes and herbs, but would lettuce work? I'd love to g…
