  • 1. No need to rinse, you can eat the gel. 2. I would say about 3 days (fresh is best) 3. You can use chia instead of flax seeds in most dehydrator recipes that use flax as a way to bind the ingredients together. Try these Chia beverage recipes from …

  • As mentioned darkness and crowded together is important. In a bag they’ll never look like the commercial ones. A flat based sprouter like the FreshLife will acheive results similar to the commercial ones.
  • Food is probably fermenting before getting dried. Can happen even in a dehydrator with a fan like the excalibur. Flax crackers need to be flipped over as soon as manageable to avoid going sour when they are sitting on a non stick surface.
  • I used glass bottles for years. Only started to use a Nalgene a few years back. It was touted as safe! maxinatux: Thanks for link to kleankanteen. Steel is not totally enert though. It may leach a few inorganic minerals into the water or juice but i…
  • Salba is a brand name for a selected variety of white Chia seeds. Little if any nutritional difference. For those in Canada, we carry both white and natural (brown) http://www.rawnutrition.ca/html/advantage_healt…
  • Our bodies convert amino acids contained in food into the protein it needs. I may not have expressed it correctly but its how I understand it. That said, one doesn’t need to eat protein foods to get “protein”.
  • You could also check out the Biogerme sprouter kit (“germe” french for sprout) It is a large container and includes interchangable screens of different sizes depending on seed or bean used. Its available on ebay.

  • I find the almond milk is so much better made without the skins. Plus I start blending the almonds in a Vita-Mix at first with only a little water. Then I slowly add remaining water. No need to stain when done this way plus you get no leftover pulp.
  • How about the all the over packaging. Last week in the produce section of a local store I saw large dispaly of small cherry tomatoes packaged by 4’s in a cute little bag.
  • Regular Buckwheat groats are not roasted unless they say Kasha. They are greenish white in color. Kasha is Brown (roasted, not raw, and will not sprout)

  • I used a sprouter like that GEO for a number of years. It has its some drawbacks. The main one is that you can’t rinse away the seed hulls from your sprouts very well. I prefer to use a large container with interchangeable filters like this one avai…

  • I’ve found that most often its the seeds. Alfalfa seeds need to be fresh. Over a year old,the sprouting percentage drops fast.
  • We sprout lentils regularly with not problems. Like anngoingraw says, a good long soak to start and then regular rinces. Sometimes beans are more difficult if they are old. Pull out the ones that haven’t sprouted. They’ll contibute to your problems.
  • Looks like the company may have gone out of business. We were looking at carrying it a few months ago but our supplier said it wasn’t selling very well. I also noticed it was on sale recently in a local health food store at 50% off Liquidation?

  • It has to do with voltage. If you try to run a North American voltage unit with an adapter in Europe if will overheat the motor and heating element. Excalibur makes a model for Europe adapted to their voltage.
  • Goldenberries are what we call here in North America Ground Cherries botanical name: physalis pruinosa. Very easy to grow.
  • I would say after. Otherwise one would specify in their recipe instructions to soak 1 1/2 cups almonds and use all of them after being soaked. At least that’s how I would express it.
