  • Quiora and jussicaaah – have a wonderful cleanse. :) I need to start a cleanse too, I just can’t seem to get myself to do it. I’m thinking of starting between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, the Jewish High Holy Days. We have a big family dinner on tho…

  • oh, I just remembered a little story; thought I’d share. Last year, right before the last HP book came out, I started a new job. I was told that the maintenance man there (who’d been there for decades) had terminal cancer. He was waiting for the las…

  • hee hee, this is fun. The first movie I ever saw in the theater was the first Star Wars; I was six. My grandma took me, and I think I may have dozed off in the middle. But from that day on, I’ve always aspired to live like a Jedi. Even as an adult, …

  • I’ve been a fan from the beginning! I have owls in my yard, and a couple of summers ago the baby would swoop over my deck, and hang out on it! I used to sit out there and talk to my owl, while reading my HP books! I know, I’m a geek. Hmmm, favorite …

  • Caleb: I guess I should rephrase what I wrote: it wasn’t each piece of fruit, it was each snack of fruit. So I ate a dessert of 2 blended bananas, 1 tbls. of raw cacao powder, and 10 strawberries cut up on top of the pudding. I think that meal was a…

  • I’ve recently started tracking, since I’ve been eating mostly following the 80/10/10 diet. So I”m eating mostly just fruit, some veggies, no nuts, a little bit of sprouted grains, and a little bit of overt fat from avocados. Yesterday, when I was lo…

  • yes! Me too; my daughter is allergic to nuts and I was going so crazy with eating them all the time that she was breaking out in hives all summer! So all nuts and most seeds are now out of my house, and I won’t bring them back in! I turned to The 80…
  • hmmm, for kids perhaps a small wide mouth thermos and then bring a separate straw? I use my old coffee travel mug.
  • it is true that toxins being released through the breast milk can be passed onto babies; women should avoid detoxing while lactating. However, breast milk with toxins is still better than formula toxins.
  • that’s cute, thanks for sharing it. :)
  • as usual Deepak Chopra provides such an eloquent insight into this race. Thank you for posting that.
  • well, I think that we are going to see a series of collapses of big business over the next few years. Our entire capitalist model of not taking into account the “externalities” of social and environmental impacts from business practices will be chan…
  • DagnyTaggart – you said everything that I’ve thought. In regards to visualizing a peaceful and harmonious society: I see people across the US buying organic food, choosing more sustainable products, and the businesses providing consumers with health…
  • I saw some raw green coffee beans on Amazon.com, and was considering buying them… way cheaper than $30/lb… these were more like $8/lb. I’ve read here that someone soaked the green coffee beans and sprouted them. Then ground them up and made a cold p…
  • Vicllo – my daughter is only 6, and while she’s been raised as vegetarian and has never eaten meat, and very little dairy (she was allergic to dairy until last year, and I don’t bring dairy into the house) I don’t force her to eat raw. She loves fru…
  • Vicllo – don’t give up! I recommend reading the book The 80/10/10 Diet by Dr. Douglas Graham, it really helped me change my perspective about how to get optimal nutrients. When I first went raw, I kept eating so many nuts/seeds but my daughter is al…
  • I have been making this bread recipe and it is my new favorite. I substitute hemp seeds for the sesame, since my daughter is allergic to sesame... http://goneraw.com/node/14056 I braid a few loaves for my Shabbat Challah, and I LOVE it!
  • I need one, but that recipe you linked to is way too complex and has nuts. I need a nut free version. I’m thinking of trying wheat berries (since that is what I have) blended with dates, ground chia seeds, and apple. If my experiment works, I’ll let…
  • oh thanks, I’ll have to try that! :)
  • yes, I’m using chia instead of flax… I can’t stand more than 1/4 cup of flax in a recipe… and the smell of it dehydrating makes me want to puke. Sorry for you flax lovers, I was actually very surprised by my reaction to it, and kept trying it in sev…

  • raw_willis – to answer your question about what is wrong with shampoo, just read the label. There are so many chemicals in shampoo, and it is really unnecessary. When people eat a raw diet, they eventually lose the stinky body odor and their hair us…

  • I was all set to do my dry brushing this afternoon after my walk… but then a main water line burst and I had no water. :( I’m about to go do it, and then have a nice relaxing bath, I’ve been needing this all day.

  • I just bought a long handle brush by Earth Theraputics, and have dry brushed yesterday and today. I already love it. My skin had been incredibly dry lately, and it seems to help quite a bit. I plan to do this every day if I’m not in a huge rush. I a…

  • thanks for the link, that was cute :)
  • I use sprouted grains sparingly. I basically use them instead of nuts in dessert/bread type recipes. Sprouted wheat berries and dates make a nice base for a bread. :)
