  • I never actually ate aloe vera but it’s very good for the skin. Every time I go to Florida (I live in NY) I grab a bunch of aloe (with permission, of course) and throw it in my car, or suitcase and when I get home I plant it and it grows like crazy.…

  • I guess I’ve been here a while. My # is 578. I’m still learning and transitioning. This is pretty much the only online forum I am part of. The recipes have helped me stay in line and the discussions are enlightening and thought provoking and I love …
  • That’s good roxi. Just keep doing that. I know it’s weird cause I had the same thing, a rough spot only on the back of my neck. Trust me, it will go away, it just takes some time.

  • I had the same exact thing on the back of my neck shortly after I went raw. If you just put some moisturizer on it (like coconut butter) and leave it alone it will go away. I think it’s just part of detox.

  • That’s why I love this site. You learn something new every day. I never heard of a neti pot. I guess I’ll google it to find out about it. Sounds like something I would use.

  • If you have a vita-mix or other high power blender you don’t need to cut the stems cause they will blend, but I do it anyway because I think it cuts down on the foam, and makes the smoothie taste less bitter.

  • I don’t know (scientifically) how long the nutrients last, but I usually make drink my smoothies within a day and they taste just as good as when I drink them right away. I wouldn’t keep them longer than a full day because they tend to oxidize and l…
  • I agree with you guys (gals) that organic is best, even though it’s usually more expensive.Kandace wrote a post listing the least and most toxic fruits and veggies, which can be found in Brigette Mars book “Rawsome.” I always buy organic strawberrie…
  • My first rebounder I bought at Modell’s for about 20 bucks. It was ok, but then I bought a more expensive one on-line and it is awesome. There is so much more “give” as you jump. You definitely get what you pay for. If you can’t afford one for 150 t…
  • I think chiropractic is the way to go when you have body pain. You get relief without drugs. A few years ago my husband had such awful pain from a herniated (spelling??) disc and was almost going to get surgery. He went to a chiropractor and within …
  • I fainted during a fast last year and eventually went to the Dr. All they did was blood work and I found out I was anemic, so I had to increase my iron. Definitely get some bloodwork done. A competent doctor will be able to check for any abnormaliti…

  • Yeah, I agree, all commercials are made for one thing, to get you to spend your money. Health is of no concern as long as you buy their product. By the way, Lunablu, your pictures are a constant source of amusement for me. You have some sense of hum…

  • Wow, achin70, 2700 calories a day!! You must have a built in furnace..Good for you. Ardesmond2, I took E3live for quite a while but I ran out. I can’t really say if it made a big difference because I felt good from other stuff I was eating/doing. As…
  • Good luck to you. My own experience has been that if you are on a raw food diet for a while, your weight loss tapers off. Definitely stay away from bread and nuts for a while, and eat lots of greens in the form of salads and smoothies/juices. I have…

  • Izhpt, I won’t hold it against you that you are a brs fan…I’ve been to Pure Food several times and the service has always been friendly. Had the same waiter each time (Maybe he saw us coming and knew I was a good tipper….lol) The food is pricey but …

  • ardesmond, yes, A&P is still around (all over the place, unfortunately) And mon46, I went to the whole food in union square a month ago and it was insane. Maybe because it was Sunday, but the line was literally out the door. I try to go to WF in…
  • Well ok, not always fresh, and I think they got a little too big and are turning into a greedy corporate enterprise, but I would still rather shop there than the A&P. When Whole Foods first came to White Plains (NY) which is where I shop, it was…
  • I’d have to agree with Elizabeth. If not for whole food, I would never have stuck to this way of eating for this long. Yes, they are expensive, and some of the people who shop there are way snobby (and lack any kind of common sense) but on the WHOLE…

  • I have the Raw Food Detox Diet and it is excellent for someone who wants to transition to raw food. I haven’t read any other book by this author, so I can’t compare.

  • Very cute. Also, have you noticed all the negative phrases regarding cooked food…..your goose is cooked, your brain is fried, you’re toast, he’s burnt….and so on. Pretty funny.

  • Izhpt, if that’s the only cooked food left in your diet, you’re miles ahead of the pack. Don’t sweat it. Especially since you are not even enjoying the taste as much, and only drink 1/2 cup. I still drink an coffee on occasion, but I was never a heav…

  • I’m good to go all day at work. I have green smoothies and salad. I get tempted at home, so to keep me “straight” I make sure I have a satisfying raw meal either ready to make, or waiting for me. Tonight it’s “lasagna” by Jennifer Cornbleet. It’s th…
