  • Yes, nuts/seeds can be acidic… but, when you germinate them… you’re removing some acid which are the enzyme inhibitors such as tannin & phytic acid. Great! I just bought hemp hearts then. :o) Are there other sources of where to get Jungle peanut…
  • Hemp hearts? Do they taste ‘different’ from what I get? Will Nutiva’s Organic Shelled Hempseed (from Whole Foods and Wegmans) work for making the milk? Are those hemp hearts? So, no flavor in Irish moss. That’s good, maybe I will skip it or substitu…
  • For puddings, avocado is good. You can also try irish moss, lecithin, (some say chia), or agar. For green smoothies, skip the banana and use a different fruit. For fruit smoothies, I can’t think of anything… something like a yogurt… hmmm… smoothie…
  • In 2004, when I went raw for 10 days, I had energy, no cravings for sweets, cravings for oranges, and mental clarity by day 10. I only did this for 10 days. In 2005,I did the same diet, and I didn’t get any results. Then, I went raw ~95% on a differ…
  • Is there a way we can view the Table of Contents… or see a listing of recipes?
  • Yes! It will take some time though. Anyone know how long before hair turns back to its darker color? I would guess about a year.
  • Bummer… so there is a chance our sprouts are absorbing fluoride.
  • That is useful information! Thanks. It also confirms our green smoothie problem… too much fiber… constipation! We weren’t drinking enough water.

  • How about marinating them in first cold-pressed olive oil with your favorite Italian spices? Then add your marinara sauce.
  • How long were they in the dehydrator? I would suggest 12 hours or more (like 24) for seeds and nuts. I store my nuts/seeds in glass with a plastic lid, so I don’t know if the plastic has anything to do with it… just guessing there.
  • I can’t say much about the prep, but here’s my 2 cents on the BlendTec vs. VitaMix: http://goneraw.com/forums/3/topics/2956
  • Anyone know which program is “better” or how they differ?
  • I haven’t watched the video… but you can have them removed. It just costs money.

  • as 123 said, stilled water is (slightly) acidic… but if it is also charcoal filtered it makes it less acidic… (have to go back to check my references).
  • Thanks for the reply dynamiccoach… what model do you have? Most of them on the Oster website don’t say… I guess I could call them and ask.

  • An electric skillet! That sounds like a great idea too… I found this one – Krups FBB1 Convection Select Convection Toaster Oven – that goes down to 100F but is unavaiable I found others that say down to 100 degrees… but, I don’t think that is in Fah…

  • Raw_mama, Loving Life Cafe in New Oxford, PA is (in my opinion) the “nearest” real raw food restaurant… I haven’t been anywhere else locally. Loving Life Cafe is moving to Hanover! ...which is closer, yeay! I haven’t been to their new place or seen …

  • Now that is a great idea… making your own nut mylk bags. We use cheesecloth… but, I was wondering: are these fabric bags reusable? Terylene… sounds like a good fabric that won’t leave lint in my mylk or nut pulp. I hope it’s reusable! If not… is it …
  • wow, I’d like to know how beet-flavored celery turns out! Yumm.
  • You have GOT to try the Mango Cheesecake ...it’s incredible!
  • aspire: close… if savory is spicy, then those 5 flavors are correct. Never though of if that way for meat. It’s a very good guess… if you look at the food available for someone becoming vegetarian, it’s mostly carbs! Satisfying the sweet tooth. I ag…
  • teade, I too had a smiliar experience. I have been veg since ~2001 and never craved meat/fish… and just the other day I thought to myself, maybe I will eat fish… one day. (What? I could not believe what I was telling myself!!! I’m not even 100% raw……
  • If you plan to drink 2 green smoothies a day… I recommend drinking plenty of water and/or foods with water (i.e. raw). After 55 day of green smoothies, green smoothies can be constipating.

  • When I was on green smoothies for 55 days (just stopped on Sunday) I actually had a craving for salty things about day 40 of green smoothies. Never in my entire life have I had such a craving for anything salty. My sweet craving was noticeably reduc…

  • Thats great advice about the fiber… even if it doesn’t stop the craving.

  • I can relate yogaholic. It’s not easy. Sure, your taste buds change to acquire flavors for different foods… but that doesn’t change cravings. We just stopped green smoothies… we were on them for 55 days straight (minus one day in the middle somewher…

  • Thanks… we haven’t used dryer sheets for quite a while… and since we really don’t dry our clothes in the dryer (only certain things)... the apple cider vinegar in the rinse cycle will be great! I need to get that “softener ball” that will open in th…
  • What was in it? Was it acidic (like orange, grapefruit, tomato…)? Are there greens in the juice? I don’t know the answer… but a friend did green smoothies for 2-3 months and had stomach problems… so, I am curious what it could be.
  • Fun to read… I agree with the carrot, grapes, and walnuts… in that they are good for that… the rest, I haven’t heard/read before.
