  • Hey, I was looking for Irish Moss and found on this website http://www.purejoyplanet.com/store/product_info… ...that it helps to soothe skin conditions such as psoriasis.

  • You can try green smoothies. Greens, water, and fruit of choice blended up in a blender. If I remember correctly, psoriasis means you can’t digest fat. But, (I think) you will be okay with raw fat like avocado, first cold-pressed olive oil, hemp. Yo…

  • Great… I need to find out where to rent it. We’re not on NetFlix (which is one of the places it can be rented), and I don’t want to buy it either.
  • Well, there is colonics and then there’s the non-invasive way. I’ve never had colonics… so I can’t say much of it. But, I have tried a colon cleanse. I posted about it here http://goneraw.com/forums/6/topics/1817 You could probably ask a naturopath.…
  • Lady J - I think it's more about having to press those buttons so many times. It's just not something I prefer. Plus, (if I remember correctly, b/c my BlendTec is in storage) I think the VitaMix can go slower than Speed 1 on the BlendTec. Missc - I …
  • les_is_more, a new dry blade container is not $500. It's about $100 (guess). Kerrychad, that's an interesting thought. I also wonder about oxidation & high speed. The BlendTec is one blade (which comes across to make 2) and the VitaMix has two b…
  • Checked out the link... wow, BlendTec has an 8 year warranty now. That's great.
  • Yes, I heard the Oster is also good. And Waring too (although that one costs more too). I hope they last...
  • I just updated the beginning of this post with the following: UPDATE: THIS IS A COMPARISON BETWEEN THE VITA-MIX and BLENDTEC (WITH 3" BLADE & 2 Qt. CONTAINER.) SINCE POSTING, BLENDTEC HAS COME OUT WITH A 3 Qt CONTAINER and 4" BLADE which seems t…
  • Snuffie, thanks for that tip!
  • We're still here... cool. Thanks for the info. Yup, the 4 blades on the VitaMix definitely gets the job done right. :o) *smile*
  • Hehe, Shades. I think BlendTec is trying to hard (they're new)... VitaMix doesn't have to do all that (they have a good repuation) By the way, Kirsten has blogged that the VitaMix is better. She recommends it over BlendTec... I have both, and I do r…
  • Thanks for the reply aniken. I could tell my ‘students’ where they can get their VitaMix for a better deal! I see from your website you recommend the Oster Beehive for a lower priced blender. Also good to know for those that don’t want to pay $400.
  • The BlendTec is really the same price as the VitaMix. I just got the BlendTec during a sale… and saved $50. So, pick any one!
  • Thanks, I did take that little thing off the lid of the BlendTec. The hole is smaller, so it doesn’t fit much. As for the lightness of the BlendTec, yes that is real nice. Just be careful; the pulse portion of the preset settings really make the Ble…
  • Warranty for BlendTec is only 3 years. If I had to choose only one, I’d choose the VitaMix too. I don’t mind cleaning it out… but that precious, pricey nut butter stuck at the base… just have to try harder. :o)
  • Is it a cold symptom? I usually use crushed garlic clove, mixed with raw honey, fresh lemon juice, ginger spice, and cayenne pepper. I spoonful of this (or two the next day or later in the day), and I’m good. Drink warm tea with fresh ginger. That r…
  • Do you have a dehydrator? That would be help keep the food for weeks. Sprouts can also be kept for several days, maybe even weeks (according to sproutpeople.com). But all the prepared fresh foods typically last 3-4… maybe 5 days. You pretty much hav…

  • You can find raw (living) bars at health stores! Sorry, I don’t know brand names… I just buy anything and everything raw, reading mostly (and sometimes only) the ingredients. And dormant nuts & seeds store well.
  • Natural Zing is in Mt. Airy, MD - between Baltimore and Frederick, MD. It’s about an hour from where I live in Northern VA. Nice people… I think Loving Life Cafe in PA uses their products. It’s the only real raw restaurant around… 2 hours away.
  • Awesome. We dream of living somewhere we can garden… and have a small greenhouse. I’ll be checking your blog to see how the build goes. We went to the Natural Zing owner’s home for a (open to anyone) raw Thanksgiving Feast and they gave us a tour of…
  • Aleta: Wow, that’s a long drive to Fort Collins to Nebraska to get food. I will have to stop complaining about my drive to get my food; however, we are looking into a CSA and nearby farmer’s market. I had a cleanse done in Eden Vally, Loveland, CO b…
  • :o) You can edit your post. :o)
  • Lemons, grapefruit… and bitter foods! Like bittermelon… altough, I’ve never had that raw.
  • Heard of it… but never tried it. My husband recently read something about it not working… that its just the wax from the candle that comes out… not your ear. Anyone know if this is true? I had my ears cleaned once at my doctors office… the nurse the…

  • I would be interested in this. I usually just try different things. But there is this vegan loaf I absolutely enjoy, that I am wondering how to make it raw. I haven’t tried… but I’ll be working on it sometime. I think a chef familiar with the effect…
  • curious: What does spirulina taste like? Bitter? Sour? ???
  • Avocado is supposed to be good for the healing. But since this is a viral infection… probably foods that are antiviral – garlic! If applied topically, it may “burn” or “hurt”... strange feeling. You can also eat it, but the results may take longer.

  • Yes, first cold-pressed olive oil for the skin. Thanks for the reminder Carmentina, I’ve been having dry skin recently and haven’t tried much to ‘fix’ that. Also, when I made an avocado dressing… I had chapped lips… so I just smeared some avocado on…
  • Right now, my favorite is the Wilted Kale and the Onion Bread I found that my favorite recipes are recipes that turn out GREAT the first time (yes, first time, no 2nd chances)... and turn out GREAT every time after that! Not all raw recipes can meet…
