  • Thanks! I learned something new about what words to use in my search. "crud
  • I will double check with my dentist. I think only dentists can get such info. Oddly, my sweet tooth has disappeared since my metal retainer came off. Coincidence? I'm not sure... yet. :o)
  • Thank you, everyone. Your information is very helpful! Time to make cakes, pies, and cheesecakes! ...oh yeah, and Chef Russell James' raw tofu (using cashews & Irish Moss).
  • No, I haven't soaked it... So two questions then: How long does it last unsoaked? How long does it last after soaked?
  • Thanks! By the way, several people have commented (and still continue to comment) on your wonderful mango cheesecake.
  • RE: Larabars The nuts are raw... just not germinated.

  • If I remember correctly, according to Enzyme Nutrition book, eczema is caused by inability for lipase enzyme to digest fat. So, eat/use raw fat which should have the lipase enzyme.

  • Hmmm, very good question... and I haven't the slightest idea. I would think a very small percentage... but that's a complete guess. Is the nutrition (protein, vitamins, minerals) mostly in the milk or pulp? Hmmmm. Well, it will definitely have LOTS …
  • Thank you for the link. Hazelnuts are not on the list... but it does say not to soak Brazil Nuts. Does less soak time imply less enzyme inhibitor? I guess the question still remains... which nuts have which enzyme inhibitors (and what are the names …
  • Wow, I just read the response from Maleko & RRM... "Some nuts contain very little enzyminhibitors (Brazil nuts, macadamia nuts), while others contain more (walnuts) or much more (chestnuts). " ...still so much to learn.
  • Please Name the Enzyme Inhibitors! I bumped into this link: http://www.acneboard.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=142 I read that germinating does NOT remove all phytic acid. I thought phytic acid was an enzyme inhibitor? I have to check my Nutrition book.…
  • If you don't want to jump into a fast, start eating a vegan diet... first... then a couple days before doing a fast, eat raw foods only. This should help. Gourmet foods is nice... it is good transitional food, however, it does tend to be more work t…
  • Pampered Chef sells it for $60. Yikes, way too much. We found one at an International market for $20 but didn't buy it because I think they should be cheaper. Hmmmm....

  • Where does our spinach mostly come from? My hubby went to Wegman's and saw a sign 'apologizing' for the inconvenience... of lack of food due to the drought in California. He said many 'shelves' were only half full.
  • johanna banana. I know what you mean! I think you have to marinate the broccoli. I had a hard time with cabbage... but as it turns out when I used Russell James Curried Cabbage recipe with oils and cumin (helpful in aiding digestion of cabbage), I d…
  • I use those websites too! My problem with such, is that there is no way of knowing if the nutrition data is from raw, dormant, biogenic(?) nuts/seeds... or germinated, bioactive(?) seeds. The nutritional content, acidity, and protein-to-fat ratio ch…
  • It would have a raw chef! *hehe* Yup, that's my dream kitchen! If I had to make the food myself: My dream kitchen would have pre-germinated & dehydrated nuts & seeds, so I can make whatever, whenever. It would have absolutely every raw ingre…

  • I would have to agree. Green smoothies does help with the cravings. However, I have done a 10-day raw, vegan diet which consisted of about 10% vegetables (including greens) and the rest were nuts, grains, seeds, and oils... and that diet quenched my…
  • Ah, what about a coconut wrap using only coconut, cayenne, & sea salt! This is Sarma's recipe (for samosas): http://gliving.com/sarmas-cauliflower-samosas/ Agar is not raw - is it? Well, you have to add boiling water to get it to thicken. You …

  • Sorry...I thought I had a recipe, but I looked again, and it had flax (no nuts). And, goneraw doesn't allow me to delete this post. :o( Flax is what really keeps bread "together". What's a good substitute for that... and maybe you can make this reci…

  • Brazil nuts & hazel nuts have less (or a little bit of) enzyme inhibitors... ummm, someone sent me a link last time, but I don't have it.
  • What? Flaxseed is banned in France & Germany? Hemp seed is another good alternative - no? Grinding first then soaking... I wonder why there is more of an impact that way. How long did you soak for? Maybe you didn't soak the whole nut/seed long e…
  • You don't need to soak flax seeds, unless you want a "gooey" texture. In that case, "yes" grind them. Regarding "Would the enzyme inhibitors still be intact if we do not soak prior to grinding?"... Are you asking if enzyme inhibitors are intact if y…
  • Personally, it's all in the ikigai - Japanese word for "the reason for living." (from the video link above) As aspire mentioned, China Study is a good read too!
  • Yes, rawcanadian. The Sardinians and the Seventh-day Adventist are the two other groups that produce the most centenarians (like the Okinawans). Of the three groups, only one is mixed vegetarian & vegan (with vegetarians living 7 years longer an…
  • Don't forget.
  • If you are not dehydrating, store germinated seeds in water... changing the water every 1 to 2 days. Another option, could be to freeze them. But I've never tried that. Their enzymes will probably denature some... and you may lose some nutrition (ba…
