  • Sounds like you want a carob cake. I don’t really like carob either. You can only eat so much carob at one time. I’ve made Joel’s Carob Mousse Pie using carob. It was good. It’s in We Like It Raw Carrot spice cake is good. It’s in the Healthful Cuis…

  • I agree. I’ve over dehydrated my fruit rollups. They get “tough” to eat. I too have the timer on my Excalibur… but really, I do not (yet) see a difference between 2 hours more and 4 hours more of dehydrating. It’s still a nice feature, though.

  • Thanks for the reply coconutty. We just bought a young coconut (our first to try and open)... but it started looking moldy on the outside after 2 days. We practiced opening it and as expected the inside was bad too. It’s difficult for me to know if …

  • Not edible – eh? The coconut water in this 3rd one was not good. Some of the coconut tasted okay, but the rest didn’t… I’m throwing it all away now. Anyone know how long a good coconut lasts in the fridge???

  • Spiral Slicer. I got mine from Loving Life Cafe who ordered it from Natural Zing I got mine for about $35 a few months back. It’s very nice for making zucchini/squash noodles… angel hair “pasta”... thin sliced apples. I like mine, but it could be mo…

  • Oh yeah, BOTH of us too. It has happened since we added lots more raw to our food! It’s indeed intestinal… not stomach-y. I too would like to think it’s due to “an active rather than sluggish digestive system”.

  • I am not sure I would want a certificate. I think it would be quite useful to have this kind of certification, if I already had a degree in the field. My computer science degree is far from it. So, what kind of degree do they offer for that part of …
  • Maybe a masters degree in nutrition from an accredited institute with a thesis in raw food . Not sure about registered dietetics programs. writeeternity: Yes, Tree of Life is the only one that I know of that offers the Masters Degree Program in Vega…
  • Thanks for the reply Katie. I was curious about IIN. It sounds like a great place. IIN does not offer a degree – does it? It would be impressive if you can start and have a business on health counseling just by attending IIN. Their website was impre…
  • rawmama, what “excellent reports” have you heard about Hippocrates? Are you referring to the results of going on a raw food diet… or the things they teach you… or both… or? :o)
  • Thanks for the advice! I have looked into holistic nutrition. I just wanted to know if anyone has tried any of the shorter programs mentioned above. I’m intersted in learning more, but I don’t know which I would focus on – either take chef training …
  • Thank you for the advice. I have my Alyssa Cohen Level 1 chef certificate… but it’s all very, very basic for me. You are right, queenflufff, I should look into learning from a local raw food restaurant… too bad it’s 2 hours away. :o) spiritedmama, I…
  • Well, I don’t have experience trying to please meat-and-potatoe types… but I can make a recommendation. In the big salads you make… you can try making a nut dressing (like cucumbers, sunflowers, lemon, and spices blended up). Hopefully, your fiancee…
  • Wow! Thank you for taking the time to share this info. It is exactly the kind of information I like to know about. Thanks again!

  • Thanks, lauraj. I haven’t tried the substitutes…but it’s good to know this kind of stuff for next time. The recipe is from a website I found on one of the Gone Raw posts. It’s the Garam Masala Gobi recipe from : We Like It Raw
  • That sounds like a good substitute. Thanks.
  • Hmmm… what to vertical ridges indicate?

  • Good fat. I agree. It is good for hair. Someone (a nutritionist) once told me that my pores were clogged and taking 2 Tbs a day of flaxseed oil for 2 weeks and without washing my hair would help. It did. (I had a lot of stress where I lost hair.) Of…

  • Hy Love4Life… there’s a raw food restaurant in Ithaca. Just south of that street west of where Moosewood Restaurant is. Does that make sense? Anyway, I visited that area a while back… didn’t get to try the food though because they were closed. I don…
  • It worked! I ate less nuts… and, well, let’s just say it worked! I’m eating more nuts now and I don’t have “signs” of “anything”. But, I will continue to keep my intake at a limit. Thanks for your help. a few days later I just realized, that I am on…
  • LindaintheRaw: Yes, I did try to limit them… and I should probably limit them even more. I will definitely continue doing that. Thanks.
  • Hmmm… Thanks for the advice LindaintheRaw. I started taking enzymes back in December. It was only after then that I noticed a “digestion” issue. They were Enzymedica Gold… not the cheap kind. I stopped taking them… maybe I need a new kind. I know I …
  • Cashews and peanuts are not nuts. Cashews do not need to be soaked… and yes, I heard it is hard to find them truly raw. So aside from soaking… what could cause “trouble in digesting” or what could help the digestion of protein? I know fruits like pi…
  • xbillyx, I have the exact same question! It was going to be my next post. I have always germinated (since 2004) and I did not have any problems digesting. Only recently in the last few months have I noticed I am not digesting. I am eating slower (ch…
