  • I was wondering if raw honey would work! Awesome!
  • Enzyme Nutrition by Dr. Edward Howell has a section on raw butter and psoriasis. I don’t know anyone that’s actually tried this, but the book says that raw butter helps. It has something to do with digesting fat (or lack of digesting)... and lipase …
  • Also the dehydrating temperature. I notice that recipes like these are made at lower temperatures (about 95F). I’ve tried it with my fruit rollups… at about 100F. They were more pliable… but not quite. Next tim, I will try it at 95F.
  • There was a post on this so I will copy-paste it here… with some modifications: Germinating removes the enzyme inhibitors which makes it easier to digest. Nuts can be soaked up to 48 hours. Seeds and grains can be soaked up to 24 hours. It seems tha…
  • Oh now, there is confusion. Germinating is soaking in water. You do this whether you are sprouting or growing greens. After you germinate you can do either of these two: sprouting After germinating you keep seeds out of water, rinsing one a day (etc…
  • Ok, so there IS a difference between sunflower sprouts and sunflower greens. (I just finished reading Anne Wigmore’s “The Sprouting Book”.) Sunfloweer greens are grown with the use of soil. Sunflower sprouts are not grown with soil. That’s the diffe…
  • hungry girl, I checked the book. It says that sunflower seeds in a shell can be used to grow sunflower greens. The two “leaves unfold to drop the protective outer shell of the sunflower seed.” It does not read that you cannot sprout shelled sunflowe…
  • Thanks so much all! That website was helpful, 123. I’ve never seen the almonds sprout… but I understand that sunflower seeds can only sprout from its shell. (I can’t remember to well, but I am pretty sure it was sunflower… I read it in Living Cuisin…
  • Guess nobody knows the answer to this…
  • I’ve never had a colonics. But, I did have a different kind of cleanse at a mission in MA. And, I also agree with kauaui girl in that they are great for initial cleansing or transitioning to cooked foods. However, I learned at the mission that colon…
  • Another tip… use parchement paper instead of teflex sheets. They dehydrate from the bottom better. So you get more of flat bread? Does it stay together that soft? If so… what’s the secret there?

  • Thanks for sharing ofek. You are right… my husband and friend from church (both into raw foods) do encourage my “better” eating habits. I will however, try more greens & minerals because those cravings are a battle for me. BTW, thanks for that g…
  • Yes, that is the book. I ate a lot of cooked food the 2 months after I was 90% raw. This book doesn’t talk about a “magic 2 month craving”... it just made me very aware of the fact that I may have strong cravings… Boutenko recommends green/veggie dr…
  • Hi greenmachine – I had a cleanse in early April… and I was 90% for almost 2 months by then. After the 10-day cleanse, my cycle was almost reaching a 50-day cycle. It seems to be back to a normal cycle now.
  • yeah, we went to Organic Cafe too… and it wasn’t very hospitable… but, my co-worker used to live there and she said that’s the Boston life… (I live near DC). The food was delicious!

  • Thanks for the info. I got the info from: http://www.miraclecomfrey.net/nutrition.html And this website read “Mung Bean and Chick Pea sprouts which have being proved as rich in Vitamin B-12”: http://www.easygreen.com It also mentions Alfalfa as cont…
  • I also heard from Paul Volk that you can “create” B12 by brushing your tongue with a toothbrush (no paste) first thing in the morning… which is something SocaL was talking about. I don’t know how to maximize the amount of B12 in this or alfalfa, or …
  • I would recommend food-grade hydrogen peroxide. Shouldn’t that be “better” or does it not matter? Either way… I think I’ll stick to food-grade hydrogen peroxide.
  • Oh, I read his book in December. It made me so anxious about everything I ate… (maybe I am exaggerating). It was definitely “interesting”... His book talked more about alternative health… but since I have been learning EVEN MORE about raw food, I do…

  • Thanks for the advice, queenfluff & alix1962. I bought this “organic” shampoo… and well, it smells like Pine Sol! I was so disappointed. I used an EO shampoo last time, but it seemed to have dried my hair so I wanted to try something new. Looks …
  • Hey queenfluff, I wash my hair about every 3 days and bought an essential oils shampoo (but that was expensive!) I don’t get that gross sebum I had for a short time. whew And when day 4 comes, I start to notice oily hair… so if I’ve already showered…
  • I haven’t been keeping up with these posts… but last time I posted, queenfluff recommended a boar brush or wooden brush. The Boar brushes are SO EXPENSIVE! $75???? Is that right? The wooden brushes seem like the bristles are too far apart for my thi…
  • I did it! I didn’t shampoo my hair this weekend on my 110+ mile cycling trip. My hair was still a greasy mess toward the end. But, I did not notice any sebum build-up. Probably because I was “melting it away” with my all-day cycling (and helmet). Ho…
  • Oh, I agree. I don’t workout unless it’s fun… and cycling, rock climbing, and hiking are fun for me. No gym workouts for me… boring and “suffocating”. So simply water will help? WOw! I do a smell after workout :o( and I don’t know if my scalp will s…
  • Hi queenfluff. Thanks for the info. You have a wealth of hair information. What I had was definitely sebum and not dandruff… I’ve never had dandruff. After, I washed my hair, I noticed my scalp was doing better. Now, it seems dry and some skin flake…
  • I had no idea sebum has a real purpose. Does sebum clog my pores/follicles? Can hair fallout because of this sebum clogging follicles? What a relief to not smell like vinegar. I would be very self conscious with greasy hair and scratching the sebum …
  • Thanks for tha advice rawlady and queenfluff. I washed my hair yesterday 3 times, and it feels so nice and soft today. But, I don’t want to use such strong shampoo… I was desperate to get that gunk (sebum) off my scalp! I’ll try the vinegar… I think…
  • I just had the worst hair day! I’m taking it slow… not shampooing for 3 days at a time. But, I must have WAY TOO MUCH oil in my scalp. By day 2, I can scratch it off my scalp. It is disgusting… hence, the bad hair day. It’s like this residue on my s…
  • So, what is the “sea salt” water rinse? Is it specifically for hair? Sorry, I’m not really reading all the details in this post (it’s so long… but very interesting). I do a salt water flush every now-and-then… can I use that sea water? I have Pure I…
  • Thans for the advice queenfluff… I will dilute my shampoo… that is good news (why didn’t I think of that)... I didn’t like the idea of working out or sweating 2 days in a row and not having to wash my hair with something! This advice is good.
