  • Hey Chris, I live in Ottawa, Canada’s capital. The raw foods here is starting more and more – it is mostly the health and natural food stores that are witnessing a bigger demand for raw foods. The grocery stores carry certain items in their organics…

  • I get funny reactions quite often, especially when buying grapes. I sometimes buy 10 pounds at a time, and when they’re on sale I go crazy (they’re not the cheapest item here)!! I have often gotten from the cashier OR the person behing me in line th…

  • The “skinny pasta noodle” is most probably wakame or arame. Make sure it’s dried. Zoe is right about hijiki, it’s steamed at a high temperature. Most dressings are not raw, as they all usually contain at least two of the following ingredients: mirin…

  • I’ve been eating more fruit in the last couple of days, and I’ve had some tummy aches too. I went back to some of the forums, and I’m assuming it’s the food combination. I’ve for example had papaya followed by a banana and later a grapefruit. Is thi…

  • I put mine right away in the fridge when I get back from the store, and when I plan to use one I take it out the day before. I find this works perfectly.

  • I agree with Chris Carlton. If these people feel “bombarded”, they have the easy option of deleting your email. But in my mind, when someone signs up for website news, they appreciate receiving any information update. But then again, I might be wron…
  • I actually just looked up jicama because I had no idea what it looked like and I can’t seem to find any where I live, and the description mentions the peel is not edible, therefore to confirm Ray’s assumption, it does need peeling.

  • Hi countrygirl! First thing, put your tahini in the fridge! This way, you extend its shelf considerably. I’ve just checked my reference guide, and tahini keeps from 8 to 12 months in the fridge. I actually put everything in the fridge, raw crackers,…

  • I enjoy inventing, which I will do, but I very much like Lucy and Zoe’s prayer/reiki.
  • This is so cool. I’m gonna start chanting to my food. Thanks for this wonderful idea!!
  • I read it’s not a good idea to eat the peel (although it’s a good taste) if the kiwi isn’t organic.

  • Has anyone tried chayote? How do you like it? Is it easy to digest?
  • Papayas, papayas, papayas! Lychees are really good too. But they’re expensive here, so my bugdet prefers sticking to apples. I must admit I am addicted to grapes though…
  • I’ve used olive oil before bedtime, and then sleeping with gloves (the winter’s -30 Celsius has really damaged my already fragile hands), but I will try coconut oil, and hope it cures them faster. I’ll let you all know my comparison results.

  • I have read that manna bread is not raw, as the cooking temperature is higher than 118 degrees. If I’m not mistaken, I read this on the Rawfoods.com bulletin board.

  • Your liver stocks the B12 for up to 5 years, but the stock slowly depletes as time goes by. That’s why, as my doctor explained to me, you can go for a certain period of time without B12, but after a while you need to replenish your stocks otherwise …

  • I really like www.rawfoods.com, which has a lot of recipes. Also, there’s www.healthlounge.net, and it offers a list of links to other raw food sites.
  • I have an American-Harvest dehydrator, priced 100$ at Home Outfitters. It comes with 4 trays, 1 full tray for liquidy stuff, and one “teflex” sheet. Works great.
