  • So sad that she is so opportunistic… But, at least she mentions how bad soy is, especially for babies.
  • I have had a couple different models of juicers, and for oranges, the instructions have ALWAYS said that you need to remove the orange peel. It is o.k. to have the thin white part of the peel, but not the tough orange part as it can ruin the juicer.…

  • From what I have read, it is not good to sprout and eat kidney beans. I remember someone posting this on this site not too long ago. As far as mung beans, I use mung bean sprouts and wrap them with some shredded carrots, cabbage, zuchinni, and cucum…
  • I use fresh stevia from the garden. Just a few leaves at most is all you need. Liquid stevia would work too, but I don’t think it is available raw.
  • I love to hike, run, snow shoe, ski, swim, play tennis, and play soccer (though I haven’t got to do that in years). I also do weight/body work, and yoga. I don’t really watch any sports on TV, but do like to watch my son do martial arts, soccer, and…

  • If it is remnants of pinched nerves, I suggest using arnica. It helps relieve pain and inflammation in soft tissues (muscles, nerves, etc.). Also, you could soak in a tub with epson or other mineral salts, and of course alternated hot and cold packs…
  • Hey Ray, it is giving me the same error messages when I post, again. Just thought you guys would want to know.
  • Same for me…I get an error message, but the message does get posted.
  • Ray this is great! It is so FAST! I LOVE it!
  • Yeah! I am excited for your move and all the great changes yet to come!
  • I meant the oven light not the pilot light, sorry for the confusion.
  • Cdorsey, I can’t give you all the answers to your questions, but I will do my best: 1) If you dehydrate below 115-120 degrees, it maintains the “life” in the food, therefore it is not “cooked”. Many raw fooders, especially in transition phase, use d…
  • Thanks for that info. Zoe! I am trying to get my dad and brother to stop smoking (they have been trying for years without success). I think I will look into that book!
  • Hello! Glad to see you back on the site. It is always hard to stay motivated when life takes you away from support systems. Visit when you can! As far as exercise, I would recommend starting with stretching; if you do nothing else, stretching is so …
  • My Reiki abilities have exploded since going to raw. I gain alot more info. from my clients when I am doing a session than ever before. I have always been a sensate and medical empath my whole life, but it is at a level now that I have never experie…
  • Nama shoyu is a kind of soy sauce. It is neither better or worse than bragg’s as they are both MSG triggers. You can substitute salt for either of them.

  • Welcome dnacol, This is a great place to start with a raw diet, as it is one of the most supportive raw sites on the web. Books are a great idea too. I would suggest just looking through websites and/or books and finding as many recipes that sound g…

  • I have noticed too that the more raw I am, like you Spirit, that I start to have aversions to things with too many nuts. I can have them blended, such as pine nuts to make a creamy salad dressing or crackers, and almonds for almond milk, but anythin…
  • Yes, you can always make things just soaked, not sprouted. The recipe might taste slightly different, and it will have less nutrition than if sprounted, but it will still be good and good for you.
  • Me too…I even waited 3 days, and still no actual sprout. I am glad to hear you had the same experience. I was beginning to question whether or not my “raw almonds” fromt he co-op were truly raw.
  • Thanks 123! Do you know if it is true that almonds go from 75% fat, 25% protein to 25% fat, 75% protein after germination? On a similar note, has anyone actually gotten an almond to sprout (not just soak it), and how long does it take?
  • riversanctuary, I have never experienced this being raw, for me it’s quite the opposite. I feel like I have more mental clarity on raw than when I eat cooked foods.
  • Jen, I can totally appreciate your question. I had a HORRIBLE detox (I posted about it not too long ago). Unfortunately, I slipped a little and had to go through the detox again. Thankfully, it was nowhere near as bad the second time. From those exp…
  • If you click on the forums tab at the top of the page and then search for sprouting, there are a few discussions that should answer your questions.

  • If you search the forums section there is a rather large string on colonics.
  • I have never really calculated my ratios, as I follow more of a ‘eat what my body wants’ raw diet, more intuitive I guess. Some days all I want is fruit, some days all I want is greens/veggies, and some days I eat more nuts/fats/oils than others. It…
  • Great idea ofek! I have been worried about animals too but really wanting to dehydrate outside, I live in a very dry climate afterall…I should utilize my resources!
  • It should work just fine. I would just check it with an oven thermometer to make sure it keeps the accurate temperature. If so, go for it!
  • writeeternity, I just love your creativity! The recipe you put in the dehydrator sounds very tasty. Please let us know how it turned out, and whether it was better as a cracker or burger. My first thought was that it would be good as a bread…and the…
  • when I made it, it was a little yellow/brown, but tasted fine. I don’t know how to get it white since bananas aren’t really white when you mix them, they are more of a yellow color.
