  • lol. 11. They keep the hospitals overfilled 12. They increase the burning of fossil fuels 13. they allow us to tolerate endless hours staring at the TV. Yeah. There are a lot of laughable articles on msn.
  • MontrealMommy, the cleanse is in the “Lifefood Recipe Book” by David and Annie Jubb. It’s done over 14 days. It involves doing some enemas and gallbladder/liver flushes which will help you metabolize fat better.
  • I lost 10 pounds when doing Jubb’s cleanse and haven’t gained them back. I only lost about 5 the time I did the MC. I did gain those pounds back, but I wasn’t raw at the time. I don’t think you can really eat too many fruits and vegetables when you’…
  • It’s made from the bark of a tree. I think from South America. You should be able to find it easily in health food stores.
  • If you’re eating lots of bananas you might be putting off your sodium/potassium balance. Perhaps that’s causing the water retention. Google “candida spit test” first and take that to see if you really do have candida. Pau D’arco tea is excellent tho…
  • Oops! Sorry about the credit simplyraw. I just scanned the thread before replying. Also, it’s great that you’re homeschooling your daughter. I left in grade 12 and finished by correspondence. Is there a more recent video than the 2006 one? My mom is…
  • aspire, Thanks for the Canadian links :) I’ll pass these along too. simplyraw, I know a friend of a friend who’s working to fight against taxes. Apparently there’s no law actually stating that we need to pay them, or something like that. He explaine…
  • Solution: massive hunger strike! In the meantime I’ll sign any petitions I can as a Canadian and tell people I know about this. I’ll also pass this onto my mom. She’s got a fairly extensive list of people she emails with info like this. I honestly d…
  • It’s not fair. I seem to be allergic to kiwi. It makes my throat feel raw and my tongue tingle. Could it be that it has to be very ripe before you can eat it, like a persimmon?
  • I just signed up. Thanks for the link amysue! How quick does a sunflower grow anyways?
  • Stay away from the Magic Bullet! I haven’t heard a good thing about it. Tribest is probably the best one to go for, though I haven’t heard of the Bella Cucina, or the Rocket. My Miracle Chopper 2000 lasted about a year as my only blender.
  • I tried making a gorilla sandwich once. Didn’t turn out so well . . . I love the idea though.
  • Maybe we should all write to their head office and suggest they carry more pre-made raw meals? It’d certainly help spread the word about raw. I find their produce prices okay, but they have the best section of natural-ish cosmetics I’ve found so far…
  • Speaking about how wonderful life is should be encouraged if anything. Great to hear you’re doing so well on raw! Your dog is very cute too. He looks very wolfy.
  • I’ve tried to use the grinder also. It doesn’t work well at all for the nibs. Maybe try putting them into ice creams or make a trail mix of goji, pumpkin seeds, and the nibs. I tried that once and it was quite tasty.
  • Okay, I’m trying this tonight! To really get it solid like a regular chocolate bar you probably have to use cacao butter as a base. rawclaire, I love the combo of maple and chocolate! Where do you get maple crystals from? Are they raw?
  • My smoothies have been smoother since I followed Bluedolphin’s idea of slowly adding the water and letting it blend for longer. I’ll try the soaking idea though. I have the oster beehive and for the most part I’m very happy with it.
  • Check for any purple at the bottom. If there’s purple it’s probably got mold on the inside also.
  • Olives and figs are very high in calcium. Other sources are: papaya, dulse, kelp, dandelion, lambs quarters, broccoli, avocado. For wild foods pigweed/lambs quarters is one of the best sources of calcium. Also, magnesium and silicon form calcium in …
  • angie, no need to feel stupid. In fact, I feel my rant was a bit over the top and I also felt bad afterwards. It’s just that I’ve just spent too much time watching people I know decline in health over the fear to question the professionals. Because …
  • Queenfluff, I couldn’t agree more. Personally, I don’t see why you need to be enrolled in a university to read a textbook. One of my favourite quotes is by Mark Twain when he said “I’ve never let school interfere with my education”. None of the stuf…
  • Here’s another place. They’re in Naramata and they sell raw nuts and superfoods: http://www.realrawfood.com/raw-food-products.htm
  • I looked into buying that book also. Is it worth it?
  • I’ll try the Irish moss idea once I find out where to buy it. The milk just looks so unappetizing after it’s sat for about a day, and even starts to settle if I don’t drink it quick enough. I think I remember David Wolfe talking about Irish moss. Is…
  • There have been some excellent suggestions so far :-) Are any vitamins lost from freezing?
  • I think there’s enough of us to form a club of broke, college, aspiring raw-foodists. All I own is an average blender and a spirilizer (which I haven’t even used much yet). I’d start by incorporating green smoothies into your diet. Try reading Green…
  • orgfoodaddict, that’s a very interesting story. I think there should be much more research into the connection between disease and emotional states, feelings, or life traumas. In fact, this would probably be a great subject/thread on it’s own.
  • livefooddoctor, I actually didn’t intend for this to come across as a means to dissuade people from using MSM, but rather a resource for those who may be experiencing a reaction. Thank you for clarifying this though. I’ve seen David’s videos on MSM.…
  • My brother got rid of his glasses only by doing Edgar Cayce’s “head and neck exercises”. At this time he was pretty much living off of hamburger helper and McDonalds, so with raw and eye exercises you should be able most damage should eventually be …
  • I have to say that all went well for the most part of yesterday, except that I ate a quesadilla (which I had been craving) for dinner. Oh well, I’ve decided to do a week long smoothie/juice fast this week. Where is everyone going from here? Continui…
