  • "where do you get that, like, at a health food store or something?" Priceless. LOL :~)

  • Be careful on the beans, if you choose to sprout them. Some types really should not be eaten raw. I have read black beans and kidney beans, not sure if there are others. Here is a great site with loads of information on sprouting: http://sproutpeopl…

  • Thanks nancyk70 & daniefon. nancyk70- do you just cut them in half, and dry? And how long does it take to dry? Thanks!

  • Sort of off topic, sorry. Daniefon: You mentioned dried cranberries for your soaked rice. I am having problems finding any dried cranberries that don't have sugar, and/or oil added. Are you finding plain ones? If so, where? Thanks!

  • I agree about not pureeing the apples next time. Also, I'd soak the dates (if they're not soft), but then remove from the water. Blend them in with the banana, so you aren't adding any of the water. Sorry, none of this helps the currant batch- but t…
  • Umm, from my understanding you should not eat raw soybeans. Edamame is soy. I am also thinking that frozen edamame is likely cooked (blanched) prior to freezing anyway. Most veggies are.

  • Yeah, I do keep nuts in the fridge, but unfortunately some (most?) places they are sold, do not. I wish they would!

  • Does anybody know?
in Rancid Pine Nuts Comment by pixx
  • I am not sure. I've heard folks talk about the smell of rancid nuts, but I have congenital anosmia, so I haven't a clue on that (I can't smell). I have noticed lately the pine nuts at Trader Joe's (my only local source for them) have been more yello…

  • paige4, I am confused...so when you mentioned using "cacao butter" in your ice cream you meant the product at that link (the "Cacao Bliss Coconut Butter")? I thought you were referring to ...well... cacao butter, as in this: http://www.nutsonline.co…
  • Hello, Kelly. ;)
  • ras-saadon~ To my understanding 811/Doug Graham does recommend large amounts of greens. Given that greens are low in calories and fruit is much higher, maybe you are not so far from it? It goes by calories, not weight, I believe. I have seen where m…
  • .kelly. : "do you have an aim? mine is kellyinfncolo. i'll be on in the early evening tonight if anybody else wants to talk about fruit" I am curious, does that mean that the posts by that profile name (kellyinfncolo) here on this site, are also you…
  • The Hallelujah Diet I believe is low-fat raw vegan. There were quite a few issues with B12 deficiencies in that group. ( I believe the scientific study was done by Michael Donaldson, Ph.D.) The founder George Malkamus now advocates taking B12.
  • Here is some B12 info, as well as info on how to get a lab test through the mail. http://www.chetday.com/b12.html
  • sv3 I often use just the juice of a lime, or lemon, or a few wedges of an orange, for salad dressing. Also, tomato blended with mango and a bit of lime (& if you use them: shallot/onion, and maybe garlic, added in) is really good.
  • I suppose it would depend on how raw you want to hold yourself to. If you occasionally eat non raw foods, I would think an occasional uncooked black bean hummus would be ok. But if you are 100%, then no. As was previously stated, canned isn't raw, a…

  • Yeah, Ok, sorry I was not more clear (I was an OTR trucker myself - yes, as odd as that sounds- tiny female that I am). I wasn't talking about produce. Frozen goods are temp controlled too. Not everything is shipped temp controlled. I honestly never…
  • You are quite welcome! I found it interesting, and telling, that they chose to use the word "charring". Interesting to me, in that it is not simply the color of molasses (as I had thought), but the sugar is actually burned. I don't use the stuff. My…
  • I just heard back from the company this morning. Here is their reply: "Thank you for your inquiry. Sugar In The Raw begins charring at a temperature of between 160 and 186 degrees Centigrade. Best regards, Dietree Bisram Consumer Relations"
  • Congratulations on being so healthy, shades! I agree that to be completely raw, it would be almost impossible for most folks. Shipping itself heats most products. The inside of trucks gets unbelievable hot. I am not such a stickler. May days range f…
  • I have just written the company that makes "sugar in the raw" and asked what temperature their product is exposed to. I will follow up, when I hear back from them. xmetalgirl805x~ If you are referring to the regular stuff in the store (labeled "ligh…
  • Shades- et al- What is labeled as "brown sugar" ("light brown" & "dark brown") is white sugar with molasses added back in, just as Nancy stated. Yes, molasses is removed from sugar to make it white. Then added back in and called "brown sugar" (m…
  • There's quite a few of us iHerb folks! I've seen several folks mention having a code (I have one on my page too!) I also second Natural Zing. Great place. WWW.TropicalTraditions.com offers Eden brand raw apple cider vinegar. And the most awesome raw…
  • Seeing a doc is likely a good idea. Take in lots of liquids!! You don't want to get dehydrated. Solid food is problematic, and will likely continue to break down poorly, until you are over whatever is going on. Liquids give the bowels less issues, w…
  • Tea tree works well for me. You can even add a few drops of the oil to any shampoo you like. (I used to do that, before finding the products with it already in it.) :~)
