  • Very interesting information, everyone. Perhaps his body needs daily enemas, who knows. It’s not for everyone, but I think that’s missing the point. His point is advocating a CLEAN colon. I think colon hydrotherapy is exceedingly important for the h…
  • Matt Monarch also thinks you should get a daily enema. Well heck, I agree with him on that and on getting regular colon hydrotherapy. :P It’s just that he didn’t back up his lettuce losing enzymes statement with scientific proof, and I was wondering…
  • it is way better to eat low enzyme lettuce than no lettuce at all True. I was eating raw food primarily taste, second for enzymes (because i read Dr. Howell’s book enzyme nutrition), and I eat raw also for vitamins. Do foods have enzymes if they’re …
  • Matt also says “The number one benefit for us of eating a 100% Raw Food Diet is: you are eliminating all the processed foods that are DAMAGING to the body. For people eating a ‘Standard American Diet’, you can literally heal and get better just by e…
  • I simply LOVE the 3 cup Cuisinart. I prep for one – so i tend to make small batches. http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DFP-3-Handy-3-C… My reasoning is, if i tried to make small batches (less than 2 cups worth) in a 7 cup, it wouldn’t work well.

  • Well I can’t afford to buy really raw nuts at $14/lb… so my nuts are store bought. They’re the ‘raw’ nuts that are steamed to open their shells, or pasteurized in the case of almonds. Enzyme inhibitors are a moot point for me. I spend too much on gr…
  • I don’t soak nuts at all. Perhaps you don’t need to soak them?
  • I buy raw nori here: http://www.livingnutritionals.com/index.php?cPa… It tastes great! I can’t stomach toasted nori, the taste is all wrong. Oats I buy from my local feed store, they sprout. I find fresh ancho peppers at my local farmer’s market in …
  • How perfect for halloween! I’ve been eating the devil all week. MMMM avocadevils. Yup I’m against 80-10-10. All I care about is raw food. No rules. Raw in any shape or form. Chris – your excellent forum about the good ole days of raw food is worth a…

  • Angie was right! I need flax in those spinach tortillas. I added it back into the recipe above.
  • It’s frustrating though having all their leftover cooked foods taking up valuable shelf space ;) Tell me about it! I’m glad I live alone this year – there was a turkey that kept poking my greens, a chicken that was dancing in my raw pie… at least I’…

  • Hi smiller450 – I recommend investing in a couple of my fave books – Ani Phyo’s book, and Cafe Gratitude. Note that not all recipes you see online will come out tasty, as they haven’t been published by actual raw chefs. Also, what zoe said is SO TRU…
  • I’ll be ordering organic almonds from california now, I suppose. Oh to eat only local food. Maybe one day!
  • That’s right, those links represent left out info. http://www.coopfoodstore.com /content/almonds-get-raw-deal Remove the spaces between.com and /content. http://www.almondboard.com/ files/Inshell%20PPO%20Pasteurization%20Validation%20Guidelines%20Fi…
  • Remember if you buy US almonds that are NOT organic, they have been fumigated with PPO, which the almond board calls pasteurization. That practice is not pasteurization. PPO is recognized world-wide as one of the most carcinogenic substances in the …
  • Ani Phyo’s mushroom gravy is outstanding!! The whipped parsnips aren’t my favorite. I made the recipe you referred to, using organic farm fresh parsnips, and it tasted funny. Not horrible, but definitely strange. And I like parsnips, but not that re…

  • At my local farmer’s market, I buy locally made, raw, organic, fresh blueberry vinegar. It tastes similar to balsamic. Perhaps you can find the same! (I’m in upstate New York fyi).
  • Agreed, TOL! A lot of college students are supportive of genetically modified foods, they think our high energy consumption is normal, they won’t bother taking steps to be more environmentally responsible. The screwed up world is NORMAL to them, and…
  • This rumor drives me nuts! coconuts are not dipped in formaldehyde. Here’s scientific evidence: http://www.basilandspice.com/journal/matt-amsde… I use lecithin for pies, agar for jello.

  • Gluten makes me sick, and i got tested for celiac and didn’t have it. It’s possible that even if you don’t have celiac, you could have non detectable intolerance for gluten. If you want to get enough calories eating mostly raw, it’s much easier to e…
