  • Basil lime sorbet. The traditional way calls for simple syrup, so I'd think you could manage with whatever your favorite really-raw (IE not agave) sweeting option is. Dates maybe, pureed with the basil perhaps, then the date soak water added.
  • Please know that storing raw garlic in olive oil causes botulism. Within a day or so, I should add.
  • Just for the record, to best absorb calcium and iron, unless they're found naturally together in the same food, they need to be taken apart from one another.

  • Detox is valid, especially if raw is making you loose weight (aspertame for one is stored in fat), but do be sure to consider if you're eating something you didn't before that you may be allergic to. Also, if you have excezema eating raw is great fo…
  • I go to potlucks often, and we have a heck of a mix of people. People bring something they can or will eat, and if other people’s also does they’ll try that too. It’s a fun place to hang out, not a food critique. If people ask, tell them. We have pe…
  • Different people have different bodies. We are all so diverse that there isn’t just one universal standard. Everyone decides for themselves by the knowledge they have and their own instinct.

  • Actually it’s carbs, because Seratonin is only produced during sleep and it’s made, short story, from carbs. Additionally, carbs are easier to digest, so that less energy is taken from body repair to digest. Your body repairs itself with amino acids…

  • I made squash seeds in the dehydrator last night. I put them in a bowl with some raw olive oil, fresh lime juice and sea salt and swirled them around a bit. I dried the ones still stuck together by pulpy threads on the grate rack and the rest of the…
  • I’ve been repetedly told there’s no such thing as raw sugar, to make it to sugar from the cane it has to be processed in some form, personally I don’t know for sure. I’ve never actually heard believable negative about good quality honey eaten in mod…
  • Several things… Bottled water is now required by law to be chlorinated for safety. Water that’s been “run through a softener” hasn’t “run through” it’s had chemicals added. That’s what those pellets are. That wasn’t my area, so I don’t know exactall…
  • Is anyone familiar with the Sea Triangle ones? I’m curious about how much those packets make, along with the expansion factor. Are they very seaweedy? Also, is anyone familiar with making your own out of still just regular sea weed?
  • When I went raw my eczema got worse. For various reasons, but the trigger was that on raw, I had begun each day with a fruit, and ate many tomatos, even dropping the tomatos didn’t help. I had to drop fruit too. I know it’s bad combining, but I can …
  • I’m not sure it’s raw (although mine fermented, so it can’t be TOO unraw) but if you’re low on B vites or iron try floradix. It’s vegan iron supplement. I am very anemic, and have to take this around that time of the month or I… get the vapors? Ligh…
  • It very well could be the going back and forth. Different foods require different digestive bacteria and bacteria have a rather short life span.

  • I love raw corn, and I’ve been known to fold and eat the grocery store corn, but I’m trying not to. Here in VT the corn crops are incredible and I’m looking forward to trying local organic corn raw. Unfortunatly even up here most corn is GM. I reall…
  • An interesting point is that some seeds actually require being eaten to grow. They have coatings that are removed by digestive juices, and if they weren’t eaten they’d die off, with our help they can make new plants and also spread. But then, that w…
  • Commercial natural hair colors can still contain things that dry out your hair. Some commercial hennas have additives to keep the powder powdery and the color fresh. What about natural raw things that change hair color? Laying out in lemon juice lig…
  • My opinion: Go raw first and let your detox happen while on the meds still. Then decide. Detox is hard. I’m on antidepressants and detoxing, and due to my weight and resulting raw weightloss I’ll be detoxing a long time. I’ve taken a small reduction…
  • I’ve been on a daily avocado kick. And I assure you, if you’re just eating fruit, avocado not only won’t make you fat, it’s essential to your long term health. You need fats for your brain to operate, along with a whole slew of other things. Without…
  • Most people have two colors or more in their eyes but don’t realise it until they happen to see their eyes with really small pupils.
  • Moist toothbrush and baking soda. My father’s a dental technician and this is what he uses and tries to make everyone else use.

  • The Raw Foods Detox Diet is a fairly decent book with daily menu plans in it and a scoring system for yourself to determine where you should be starting. It does include some cooked foods. It’s meant to transition someone to raw. Perhaps you’re deto…
  • I’m sure what will make your father happiest is you being happy and healthy.
  • I had three pelvic surgeries, and they basically put me on MCs repetedly to clear for the surgery. I would rather die an early death than subject myself to all the negative of it. They were the worst days of my life, aside from having my incision cl…
  • Fruit late is not a good idea, it’ll sit on top of other things and ferment. I’m not a big combining stickler, but this has done worlds for me. If you are thin than you may not be overeating. Maybe you’re miscombining for your digestion and it’s cau…
  • If you like it, drink it. So many teas have such good health benifits. Frankly if you’re eating raw to live healthier and longer, you want to enjoy that extra time, not use it making yourself sad looking at stuff you like and want. It’s dried herbs.…

  • You can blend avocado with a little lemon juice and freeze it in ice cube trays. This can be handy for guac for lunch out. Make all the rest of it, then throw in some avo cubes and go. It’ll keep it cool and all you have to do is stirr at lunch time…
  • Debbie: Going to see the doctor for a diagnosis can be a good thing. You can take the scripts and shred them when you get home if you like. I hate doctors, but they are trained to diagnose (although, in my experience some didn’t bother to pay attent…
  • I have a Nesco from Bed Bath and Beyond, $60. I think it’s great. The important thing is to make sure it has a temp dial, because many without dials are just set to 140, which is like slow cooking. (Still better than cooking cooking.) The perk here …
