  • Glad to see this posted. Rhio has always been a support to Gone Raw, from linking to us on her own website to graciously allowing us to post her recipes, such as mushroom steak and caesar salad.

  • Balsamic vinegar isn’t technically raw. Much like agave, I see it in raw recipes quite a bit in moderation. It is really up to you if you want to use this, but I haven’t heard of any truly raw balsamic vinegars. I see a balsamic for sale as raw (her…

  • Would a nutritionist be able to tell me which supplements are necessary and which ones to toss? Yes, indeed! Searching for a nutritionist who is familiar with a largely raw, vegan lifestyle would be time well spent also.
  • I once read that ants will not walk over lemon juice. I’ve tried using this as a deterrent in areas where I can tell they are entering the house (to some positive results). Also, a good cleaning can be helpful. Whenever, I’ve had ants, it is usually…
  • Khaas Ladki: The timer is extremely helpful – I’d put it at the very top of my list for a dehydrator. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve put something in the dehydrator and set it to switch off in the middle of the night or before I get hom…
  • My first introduction to raw foods was in a raw class. One of the recipes we learned was a simple kale and avocado salad. It was so easy to replicate that I felt really confident trying to make my own at home. The teacher also talked at length about…
  • I’ll have to check. It is for a newspaper article, so I’m thinking there should be a link when it comes out. I’ll post!

  • angie: Yes, keeping it positive is important. Alix1962: Great advice! Unfortunately, I am the interviewee! I do find it interesting that raw and organic are basically used interchangeably here. Perhaps I can help to sort out the difference.

  • I haven’t really experimented with raw corn (although I have some planted in my garden this year, so we will see). I’ve had good experiences with a raw taco night – tortillas, taco meat, guacamole, pico, lettuce and tomato. There are a bunch more id…
  • When I was in grad school, I had a professor that would answer many of our questions with, “Now that sounds like a good thesis topic.” Channelling her, I’m thinking comfort food – now that sounds like a good recipe category! :) EDIT: Just checked – …

  • We definitely want to keep the integrity of our recipe collection intact and want Gone Raw to be a benefit to the entire raw, vegan community. If in question about whether you should post a recipe, take a moment to read over the submissions portion …

  • I’ve only made one version of the crepe recipe (posted here). I’ve made it a few times and haven’t had any sticking (I used just a dehydrator with a teflex sheet). Hope this helps!

  • That’s sweet, RawKidChef (and Karuna, too). But boy howdy, have we been busy lately! Funny, when we started this site, I was devoting entire weekends to experimenting and coming up with new recipes since I wasn’t finding what I was looking for out t…
  • pianissima: Absolutely amazing! I’d never been to France (all of my previous travel time was focused on Japan) and I was just blown away. I cannot believe how easy it is to travel around Europe by train and there were farmers’ markets in every city …

  • Bonjour Cedricia (welcome to Gone Raw). I just returned to the states from a two week visit to France (Paris, Nice, Arles). What a beautiful country you live in!

  • Fab to see everyone again :). We did indeed have a wonderful holiday – both of our first visits to France. What amazing museums and the farmers markets were incredible!
  • For me, the idea of veganism doesn’t include honey. But, it is certainly one of those ingredients that differs in definition from person to person. Perhaps, if one eats honey, they are a BEE-gan :) This topic reminds me of one from a while ago…here’…

  • Stickybumps23, I am hypoglycemic also (although I don’t feel so since eating raw)...my naturopath suggested that juice fasting is just fine for me as long as I stick with greens and not load up on fruits. I have fasted for 3 days without any blood s…

  • Farmers markets are amazing. Our farmers market just opened up 3 weeks ago and I have been so amazed by the delicious local food (many of it happily organic)! I just wish there was something like this open every day, as I’m not the best plan ahead p…
  • Stickybumps23, I am hypoglycemic also, although raw has helped with many of the symptoms. When I juice, I mostly use greens instead of a bunch of fruit and feel great (no blood sugar spikes, etc).

  • Great idea! Categories are generated by you as you add recipes; if you start putting your recipes in a nut_free category, it will show up! I just added this note to the blog and started the category by tagging one of my recipes. Looking forward to s…

  • We have been absolutely astounded by Gone Raw’s growth. Our original intent was indeed to create an open vegan, raw forum that wasn’t driven by a singular philosophy or drive for sales. I’ve been so impressed with the people that have joined and loo…

  • Ssarah: I quit smoking a few years back myself. The crankiness does go away! It may be difficult to get through t first, but you will be amazed at how delicious the world tastes and smells once you’ve quite for a while. And your capacity to breathe …
  • Merci! We’re staying in Rue Cler while in France and I am really looking forward to the markets there – open 6 days/mornings a week, I’ve heard. I’m looking forward to the amazing produce. I just had my first French lesson (learning a couple phrases…
  • Thanks for posting this. I’m reading a book right now by David Bach called Go Green, Live Rich. One of his first suggestions in understanding global warming on a personal level is to figure out your own carbon footprint. I was surprised to find that…
  • I can definitely relate to your frustration, but your Mom is probably choosing these inexpensive items so as not to tax each family too much monetarily – that’s what happens quite a bit with my family (the more you feed, the more unhealthy and cheap…
