  • Thanks for the linkAKAAuburnEyyes. i read 80-10-10 also. Hmmm is all I can say. We could have a virtual raw team here. Pick a goal and hold each other to it by posting our raw training. Do we have a long run guinee pig to try that banana blending. I…

  • I’m going to find that book also. Maybe Organic Athlete has a link. Moth-the average running shoe is designed to break down after around 400 miles. I’m much harder on my shoes and they don’t last longer than 5 months tops. I like Phidipedes running …

  • Trawthlete, sounds like you need sodium. I only remember this from marathon training days. After 16 miles, I’d get loooopy! It would last forever into the evening. I’d feed myself—no change. More water—no change. There are many great foods that won’…

  • Allison—good luck!!!! good raw tricks—dates for quick energy at that miserable 16-18 mile mark and have your support person get you some coconut water around then as well. It’s the most purely isotonic beverage there is. Then while everyone else is …

  • Great! So you’re doing the ING? I thought i’d never do another marathon as it was for a very special person who passed from leukemia just 6 days after he was diagnosed. My emotions, strength and motivation were so high. I stayed raw and finished my …

  • Celery: More Than Worth Its Salt PDF Print E-mail From Foodnsport.com Mention celery in any group of people and you will usually get very polarized responses. In general, most folks don’t have very strong feelings about carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, …

  • I never thought it added anything but a clean taste to my smoothies, but it does have a taste vs. spinach which is tasteless in the smoothie. I usually add it as my green if I’m out of leaves or if I want to wake up and have amazing clarity. Basical…

  • Celery in a smoothie = “Good Morning!” If you run marathons raw—you need the sodium/water celery provides or you become looooooopy!

  • raw food—wonderful. Also remember that your adrenals are housed in your thoracic spine so anything you can do there to get this area moving would be enormously beneficial. GYRONONIC is fabulous for the spiraling motions required of the thoracic spin…
  • If you need a “Why am i doing this” book—go w/ David Wolfe’s Sunfood Diet success system. One of my first recipe books was Raw Transformation by Wendy Rudell. I still go back here lots for smoothie combinations, dressings, soups—the easy stuff. i st…

  • I’ve noticed that Mangoes and papaya also makes a nice creamy, rich smoothie without adding any fat. I don’t like to mix fats with fruits. I usually do 1/2 of a papaya or 2 champagne mangoes, spinach, berries, water.

  • artzyfartzy—this is common! A great sign! Your body is literally scouring the debris from the colon. Give yourself an extra 15 min. before work in the am. Once you’re done, it won’t happen again until the next day—maybe lasting 5 days tops. it’s lik…

  • Ardesmond, yes! Soaked garbanzo beans are deathly poison to me personally. I had them early in my raw days and was soooo sick with this terrible metal taste in my mouth for almost 10days among other horrors! I had a similar problem soaking some kind…
  • I also agree—seems to be the buzzword of the raw food world. When I think of the times I’ve been sick while being raw, it is ALWAYS when I’ve sprouted something that should never be eaten raw, like grains or legumes or I’ve eaten cooked food.
  • Interesting bellasera. I started 90% raw 2 years ago and dropped 7lbs the first week. I continued to lose a total of 14 pounds—too much for me. I went to 75% and gained back about 8. 100% raw followed this past fall and it did take much longer to se…

  • cherie, great link. nice discussion. Thanks to all for posting.
  • Seemed like a good place for this—thanks to someone who posted about sending the whole mix through the vitamix before spreading on the teflex sheets. i have trouble digesting whole flas seeds, but much better all ground up first for me.
  • Nicci, you must bring your own food. Do not expect family to suddenly become raw food chefs and create food for you. Also it could be worse—you could be the one preparing the meat! That would be me, the raw foodist. Have a sense of humour, bring a b…

  • Go for a series of colonics! I was so hesitant at first, but when you eat raw, you don’t have to go for a long time. I did 6, as recommended in David Wolf’s book. It is recommended you do this seasonally.
  • missbettie, In the beginning i tell my newbie friends to keep food with them at ALL times. Raw nuts in the car, small easy fruits, like clementines, bananas, grapes. Make sure you get in a good smoothie with your fruit and greens in the am. Stock La…

  • You know. You won’t get any preaching from me. I tried that 80-10-10 and ended up falling completely off the raw life. If you enjoy making Gourmet Raw, then do it. You already know how good you feel. I say if you have a dressing w/ Nama or raw nuts …
